Can any one tell me what is better about humidor solutions or distilled water. Some say you shouldn't use solution all the time and some do. Any one know real answear? Thank you.

The 50/50 solution contains 50% propylene glycol and 50% distilled water. The propylene glycol (C3H802) absorbs moisture helping maintain 70% relitive humidity. Propylene glycol does not evaporate easily so adding more solution will increase the amount of PG in your humidifier thus lowering the RH in the humidor. So using the pre-mix 50/50 once and then adding distilled water as needed.

Although I prefer to use silica gel.
Hope this helps

I read somewhere that the Propylene Glycol solution used in humidors is similar in chemical composition to antifreeze used in automobiles, or something along those lines. I only use Distilled Water and never had any problems.

For best results use your PG solution once every six months or so, more frequent use is not recomended, as mentioned below it does not evaporate out and will build up in your humidifier. It also has some antimicrobial effects which will help keep mildew from growing in your oasis foam.

Thank you very much. I thought thats what I had read but some people say you can ues it all the time. Thank you again. 8)

right on nmcowboy. The only thing I will add is to never use tap water. I have tested humidifiers with distilled vs tap and I never realized how many impurities are in tap water. Distilled will increase the lifespan of your humidifier greatly.
