Help! I want to pop the question with a humidor...

Hey everyone! I've got the best gal in the world and I am ready to marry her (don't worry! She loves my Garand as much as I do! :D ). I think I may have come up with the perfect way to nab her!

See, she has a great dad, and one of the things that he passed on to her was a love of cigars. To her, a cigar says 'every thing is right in the world'. So, I want to suprise her with a Humidor (and ring) for Xmas (or her B-day if I need more time) but...

I have no idea what makes a good humidor! I plan on asking her pops, but I've come to y'all before with (gun) questions and I've never been disappointed.

I'm willing to spend $200-300 bucks, but I am looking for quality, not a name. How hard is it to build a desktop humidor? I can follow instructions, and I have a stepdad with some diy woodworking know-how and a decent garage shop. Any resources would be very helpful.

Thanks a bunch AmBackers!

check out either tampahumidors.com or cheaphumidors.com 2 really good places and they have quality and good prices

I've never tried to build a humidor (built houses, cabinets, etc in another life) but I know a good humi has to have very close tolerances on all cuts, joints, seams, etc. It might be easier and actually not much more money to buy one already made. (Spanish cedar ain't cheap if you gotta go buy it yourself.)

jhopephulle gave 2 good sources for inexpensive humis; I have purchased from Tampa and I am pleased with their products.

Diamond Crown humidors are some of the best in the world. They have a wide selection, from plain mahogany, to beautiful birds-eye maple.

Diamond Crown's are great....

I also have had great luck with my large Savoys, beautiful and solid, great humidors.

Solid advice around, I have had luck with the Savoy's and you can't go wrong with Diamond Crown.

you should give her a humidor with a box of awsome cigars in it, and put the ring on one of the cigars. open the box and hand her the cigar with the ring on it. now thats classy.

Congrats, on the big step, BUT the way to rui a good friendship, is get married hahahah Enjoy, Vince

Congratulations on taking the big step!! You listen to these guys and they will not steer you wrong.

I think that the ring on the cigar thing is a great idea - go for it!! Tampa humidors is the one I dealt with, and they can even fill that humidor for you when they ship it to you. Kill two birds with one stone so to speak.

The ring on the cigar was the exact thought I had. Thanks for all the advice.

You should hang around here...everyone is startin to get a lil stale on me (jk guys/gal:D). Its a great group of people!

I agree with Diamond Crown. I'm not sure what Staebell desktops go fo but that would be the Ultimate.
