I am fairly new to the many joys of cigars and thanks to a very good friend I have a new humidor and I am trying to do the right thing with it. It is a custom built humidor with a probable capacity of 7-10. My friend built it for me in order to give the Q*ban that he bought for me. The inside is done in Spanish Cedar and it has a solid seal on the lid. I believe that I have done an ok job of preping it and now have a calibrated digital hygrometer reading 75 at 66% humidity. I have 7 stix in there now. Is this acceptible or should I be trying to get my humidity higher? Any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Mike,
Many folks prefer the humidy to be in that range. There has been endless debate on the topic, but some say that certain cigars smoke better at a lower RH.
I would leave it as is.

Oh, and Welcome aboard!

Thanks for the quick reply

Thanks for the information, I appreciate it. It seems like everyone here is very quick to help.

I'm' sure you'll find yourself needing a bigger humidor in no time flat. It's happened to all of us. Welcome.

I keep mine at 65% or as close to that as possible with very nice results.

I have been charting my temp and humis each day, its gone up to 70% and the smoke I had last night wasn't as good as others. I am gone to slowly bring it back down and watch the results. My buddy who built my humidor was over and he is starting to plan his next project. I can see now that what I have will be a good display with a couple of days smokes but I will need a larger storage size.

Now that I have joined the cigar of the month club I think I will need a larger Humidor. Right now I have a nice travel size one. Any suggestions for the next step up? Something relatively simple for this newbe. Thanks.

youve got cigar of the month...

i can see this building momentum fast

300 count or larger. you will fill it up faster than you ever think you would

Agreed buy BIG. If your going to hang out here with these enablers then your addiction will grow at a speed that can be downright scary. Trust me I learned the hard way.

Thanks....I guess to all you enablers who replied...I guess I'll go on the bigger side.
