I am getting ready to purchase a cabinet humidor, very similar to the one Travis just bought.

Question is this...will an Oasis XL Plus be enough or should I go beads and or humi jars as well. Is that overkill or will the Oasis work ok by itself?

Anyone with the Oasis, have you had any problems with it being able to humidify 5-6 cubic ft.

Thanks for the input.

I am using the Oasis XL Plus in maine and it is working great. Not that I have sealed it up it is running much less.

i dont own an oasis of any kind.

isnt the XL plus a bit of over kill ?

I dont know if the XL plus will be overkill or not. I have no experience with any Oasis. From my research, it looks like it should be just fine, but I wanted to check with the resident experts here who have dealt with this machine and see if there have been any problems.

I use an XL Plus in my cabinet humidor (1200 cigars) and I also put in some beads to help regulate the humidity. The CO's are great but they only put humidity in - they don't take it out. Plus I notice by supplementing them the CO's water cartridges last longer - which is nice during the winter.

I think my frigidor is about the same size as Travis' cabinet. I use an Oasis XL which is plenty. I have no need for beads as the frigidor condenses any excess humidity out the drain plug, but they are indeed usefull for their absobtion properties if you aren't in my situation.

For sheer convenience I would go with the Oasis. If you can afford one, Oasis units are the best humidification method IMO, barring of course a Set and Forget unit. I haven't had to fill my Oasis for about a month now and it's still going strong, and my frigidor actively REMOVES water.

I'm not sure what size/count my Aristocrate mini is?
I'd say it holds 20 boxes easy - maybe 30?
I only use beads in it &
never have any problem.

My tower is a bit odd in terms of humidification. They are eight drawers in the middle which makes it difficult to humidify properly since the electrical outlets are on the bottom. I have two Oasis XL Plus on the bottom (btw, the built-in hygrometers are not very reliable). I use beads on top, one for each shelf. Overall, I keep my humidity at about 62 to 63%.

Chris - I'd think the reverse would work better?
Humidification devise on top & beads at the bottom?
Best of all would be a few fans that blow air around evenly.
