Recommendation for a travel humidor

I'm looking for some suggestions on buying a travel humidor. I have a two week trip to Texas and So. California coming up, and thought I'd like to take along some cigars.

I'd appreciate any advice from the vast knowledge of wisdom of the Amback populous.

I have a 15 count cigar caddy and love it. Whatever you do, if you get one of the plastic type travel cases, they have an airtight seal and do not need to have the built in humidifier filled( I have heard people having problems with sticks touching the humidifier getting wet). I have had sticks in them for up to 2 weeks with no drying out. Just be aware that the size capacity is diminished with bigger ring gauge sticks.

I just got a 18 ct. cigar caddy extreme that is really nice.

My favorite one to take to friends house is a metal one that is cedar lined that I got from Brad in the SS pass

I don't claim vast knowledge, but I love my herf-a-dors. I have a 15 and a 5 count and I know they make bigger ones. I just got back from a trip to Mexico and they worked perfectly. My cigars were in great shape and smoked perfectly the whole week and I never added water to that little humificiation device that was in there. I think the 15 count goes for about 30 bucks, but I got mine for 9 on cbid if you have time to be patient. Also, I think the otterbox is the same thing in case you have trouble finding a herf-a-dor. Happy hunting!

CCOM has the 5 and 15 size Herf-a-dor available according to their website. I got a 15 with a one day deal a while back. Can't really vouch for how it works--haven't taken it anywhere yet.

DD,

Not sure where in the Lone Star you're headed, but if you hit Austin, Bobalu Cigar Company is worth checking out (it's on 6th street), and there are also a few good places here in Big D.

Bobalu rolls their own stock from what I understand.

Another vote for the Cigar Caddy here. I have the fifteen count that I modified to hold a Boveda packet. One thing though, go bigger if you can because it holds maybe fifteen coronas, not toros, and with the higher count versions, you can get better foam padding that has individual slots.

What I found, was that I didn't want to be carrying such a big case with me if I went out to the bar or something, so I also bought a Xikar Envoy case. I use that whenever I go out now.

I was lucky enough to receive a Xikar 10ct travel humidor as a Christmas gift from my girlfriends parents. I would recommend these to anybody, it made through some air travel in my backpack without any damage to the ten cigars (assorted sizes and ring gauges) that I packed in there. My only suggestion to anyone that owns one is to be careful with the water sponge, maybe travel with nine cigars and something placed under the humi-disc to absorb any accidental water seepage although I tend to beleive that I may have over saturated mine before traveling.

Apart from that, I am sold on this travel humidor. Three thumbs up.

EDIT: Upon looking at the Xikar website it mentions that the 10ct will hold 10 Churchills.

I agree with Cigar Caddy. I've got a 24 count one that goes everywhere with me.

Geez, as he has previously proclaimed himself the king of frugalness, I figured TinyTim would have suggested a tupperware container and water pillow.

I also vote for the cigar caddy/herf-a-dor. I have a 5 count I carry every day. And a Xikar Envoy case I carry for convenience on quick trips.
