How to clean a Humidor - :(

So this is probably a nice new one for you guys. Apparently while I was out of town someone that came over my place that my roommate knows threw up all over my humidor. Now I have yet to figure out why the 400 dollar humidor filled with probably a grand of cigars became the target of this stupidity/immaturity, but it did.

Now assuming out of the kindness of my heart I don't make them buy me a new humidor (big assumption at this point, but it was a very nice limited edition humidor), is there a way to clean the cedar wood on the inside of the humidor without screwing it up? He threw up on the outside of it not the inside, but it looked like it got a bit wet on the inside around the seals.

This was all at a quick glance on my way out the door this morning as i got back into town and just showered and left for work. I'll look it over tonight after the area has been cleaned up & I told them not to put any cleaning solution on the humidor.

Anyway anyone have any ideas for something that I can put on it that wont warp, stain, or otherwise damage the cedar? :(

Thanks in advance..

wow. thats not good.
the only action i can think to take would be "legal action"

at some point it is destruction of your stuff. iduno.

... i think the humi is done for.

I hope I get one of those in the next box pass. But seriously, Crimthann should be out of PIF's for the next 12 months. Just kidding.

First off salvage your cigars asap! As far as the wood goes I'm thinking the humi is done for. Concerning the smokes they should be fine if the humi is sealed but I would get them out of there now.

Agreed, move the smokes ASAP to a ziploc bag or tupperware, throw in some humi-pillows, and send the dumb !$#@ that threw up on your collection a bill. Not funny, not cool. That person must not have a job, or know what it means to care for offspring as delicate as a cigar. Just like cigars will infuse with taste from flavored cigars, so will your smokes infuse the smell and taste of vomit. 86 the humi, send that "kid" a bill, explaining small claims court is next....get yourself something nice...

If you are set on trying to salvage it I would start with removing everything from the humi to keep what you can. Wipe any "dirt" out with a damp rag. Leave the humi open to dry out. After it dries give a light sanding to remove absorbed liquids. Place some baking soda (in a dish) inside the humi and close for a day or so then remove the dish.

At this time if all looks and smells OK you would need to re-season the humidor and go back to the guy who messed it up and have a deep discussion.

This is just my take on it and may not work at all but it would be my choice of steps.

That's fricken awesome. :). Honestly if I was still in college I still wouldn't have understood how someone couldn't make it to the bathroom more less after. Ridiculous... I did however have my cigars pulled out that morning and they're sitting in a ziplock bag with my humidifier so they're cool, fortunately. I chocked the humi up as a loss and have them replacing it with a new one.

Anyone have any experiences with this one :
