Humidity trouble in a new humidor

I purchased a new humidor 2 weeks ago. It has a capacity of 300 cigars. When I received the humidor I filled both sponge humidifiers with a 50/50 solution of distilled water and propylene glycol. I placed both of these inside the humidor to begin seasoning it. I also took the hygrometer and calibrated it by using the salt test. I placed the hygrometer inside the humidor, and began to monitor the humidity. After two days my humidity level was holding steady at 85. I continued to monitor the level to see if it would drop back down to normal range, and after a week it hadn't changed. I removed the hygrometer and placed it in another humidor and it worked correctly, so I placed it back inside the new humidor. Within 2 hours it was reading 85 again.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to lower my humidity level into normal range? The humidor is empty, and is not in any sunlight. It is currently sitting next to my smaller glass top humidor that has been holding a constant level of 70 for about 3 months.

Thanks for the advise. I have determined that the hygrometer was malfuncting. I have ordered a new digital hygrometer to replace it.
