A friend quit smoking cigars a few years ago and gave me his desktop humidor that he bought off amazon. It is one of those glass top ones. The cost around 25-30 Dollars. I enjoy the occasional cigar and was thinking of stocking this one up. The only problem is that my friend, after quiting smoking decided to use the humidor to store his show shine kit and shoe shine. I am just wondering if this thing is going to be any good after it had the shoe shine cans in it or if I should just start with a new one. Any ideas on how much of the shoe shine smell the wood may have absorbed? Thanks

I seem to have missed this one. I have no idea if the smell of shoe shine stuff could be removed by 90+ % alcohol, but it might be worth a try. For a 25-30 count humidor, I would use it for shoe polish and buy a bigger humidor- at least 50 count and preferably 100 or larger. Of course, that is the opinion of a guy who smokes an average of 3 cigars or more a day and has many humidors, tubadors and cooladors.
