Cigar Events

Thanks!

I see there are several in my area. How are they typically? Worth checking out?

I think it depends on the event. For instance, I went to one for Zino, and got a fair amount of free cigars, which is saying a lot since they are Zino and expensive. I've been to others where they give you a cigar. Sometimes there are drawings. There's usually a good crowd so they can be a lot of fun and you learn a lot about the particular brand. I try to go to as many as I can.

ah finally something here

Any idea what the Punch Ambassador Event is?

We have one here in Charleston next Thursday. If I remember to go, I'll let you know.

Punch Ambassador Event

I enjoyed the Punch Ambassador event today:

Free cigar when you go in - Maduro, Natural, or Gran Puro Robusto.

They also had a deal with three small cigars that each had a different type of tobacco - ligero, and ... I forget the other two. It would have helped if I hadn't forgotten mine at the store

There was also boxes of 10 and 20 on sale and if you bought a box, you got a chance for an extra 25 bucks off.

Also, buy 2 general cigar smokes, and get one of the robustos I mentioned above free. Snagged a couple of Partagas' and Rare Corojos and got a freebie maduro and puro.

The rep, Signa (?), was pretty nice and not hard to look at.

I recommend stopping by if it comes to town.

I haven't been to any of these cigar events. Basically, do the reps come down and hand out smokes and offer deals and such?

I wish they'd do some sort of Ashton event so I could get that nice cigar basin on the cheap

At events, reps will usually just come, maybe hand out a free cigar or two, give some deals, and just generally BS with you. Sometines you'll get lucky and get a maker themself like I did with Nish Patel today.

My B&M is never on this list but often has awesome events like the RP event today with Nish Patel and the regional rep. I'm sure this is not an isolated occurance so if you can't find any events, don't be discouraged. Go to your tobacconist and ask if they have a mailing list or a list of events.

Dejoro, you are constantly giving us vital information. A package may have to be sent your way. If I only had your address....I believe a PM is in order. Hint, hint.

I heard there was a punch photo shoot or something like that. Has anyone been to that event?

They are usually at the CA Big Smokes.

Went to my first ever cigar event yesterday. It was the Punch Ambassador event at T & C in St. Louis.

The rep Amy was very cool and gave out hats, cutters and brochures. They had the "get a free cigar" thing at the door. Basically like Acharpe mentioned you can choose from the maduro, natural or gran puro. Went with the puro.

I ended up getting a 25 count box of the maduro rothchilds since they're not that bad and under 3 bux a stick they were hard to pass up. I opened the box at home in order to put them into my 50 count humidor and saw that each one of them had the sparkly "oil sheen". Me thinks that with a little aging these may turn out to be pretty yummy.

Had a great time at the Punch event and it was refreshing to be able to talk cigars with someone in the industry. Amy mentioned that part of her job was to spend a month in Honduras learning how to blend and roll cigars and other related events each year. Too cool...

Another cigar event: CAO at Top Hat Tobacco

Overall a decent event. They handed out a free CAO CX2 to folks who signed up for their email news. No cutter or hat at this event and the rep was pretty pushy about buying boxes of CAO.

I ended up smoking the CAO Gold Anniversary at the event (not free) which started out great but quickly turned rough halfway through the smoke.

They didn't have much as far as box discounts or anything but did offer a free hat, cutter and 7 cigar sampler pack with a purchase of any CAO box. Not too shabby.

Cigar Event #3: Zino Classic at St. Louis Cigar Club

Zino handed out their Classic #1 for those who walked through the door. Mild and sweet is probably the best way to describe it. The cigar itself for some reason or another was one of the heaviest cigars i've ever held. The construction was excellent.

I'm not the biggest fan of mild cigars, but I must say the Zino Classic was a nice treat...although I wouldn't pay the 8 bux they were asking for it.

If you can go to a Zino tasting I would highly suggest doing so. So far they have offered more box and bundle deals than anyone else I've seen so far and have really nice cigar accessories to win in the raffles.

Overall probably the best event I've been to for free.

The local shop here (Cigars & More) has had an event each month lately.

Went to the CAO event where everyone got a choice of Brazilia GOL, Criollo (not sure which size), or Gold (not sure which size). Guess you could tell I went with the GOL which is one of my favorites. They had discounts on cigars, pipes, and pipe tobacco. They gave away some hats and a box of CAO Gold.

Went to the Ashton/La Aroma de Cuba event where they handed out the Monarch and had a tasting of Mount Gay Rum to go with it. It had been a while since I've had a La Aroma and I found it to be a very good smoke. They gave discounts on La Aroma purchases and had an Ashton ashtray (which I won) and Savoy travel humidor they gave away. They also gave away a nice desktop humidor to whoever spent the most in the store during the event (count me out of that one).

Next up they're having a Carlos Torano event where they're going to have a cigar roller from Cuba there to roll cigars. Should be an interesting event.
