I am constantly on the lookout for cigar shops when I'm out and about.
Sometimes I'll see something new and give it a try, some winners some losers. Sosa pyramid #2's were one of the finds. Be brave try something new.

When you're out of Cubans, here are some real good alternatives….

Padron 1964 Anniversary Series
Partagas 150
La Gloria Cubana
C.A.O. L’Anniversaire
Opus X

Yup done all those except the Partagas 150, all great choices.
I like Cubanos, a friend in the music industry has literally boxes and boxes of cubans so I've had my share of the "Forbidden fruit" but you gotta admit there are a lot of good cigars out there that aren't Cuban. One of my great joys is to find a really good, really cheap cigar via the "try something new" method and then buy a box and enjoy!

Cigar Aficionado magazine comes across some decent non-Cuban cigars that are often less than $5 each. That's not bad.

I have been quite fortunate to find a number of great Non-Cubans in the less than five and even "somewhere around three dollar" range in the past couple of years. I've had to cut back from about four or five cigars a week over the past six months to about three a month because of recent health difficulties.

Off the top of my head however, I think the following brands might be good budget brands for those who have financial "issues" such as myself. As time goes on, and perhaps if I dig through my humidors I'll post some more suggestions.

Mayorga Maduro
Genuine Counterfeit Cubans
Bolivar Fuerte - rated pretty fine by some experienced Cuban cigar smokers I know
CAO Gold - surprisingly tasty for a light Connecticut shade wrapped cigar, even with a kick at times
5 Vegas - Received a bunch of these from a friend a while back. Quite spicy right out of the box, very nice after about four to six months in a humidor

Good to be here. This is my first post. These forums are a bit intimidating after spending three and a half years on the web site I left 88 days ago, but perhaps because there are so many topics. No doubt, as I have told a number of friends, this web site can hold an interest for a great number of people with diverse interests. Although I will be spending most of my time here on the Cigars, Spiritus Fermenti and Coffee and Tea forums, I will be swimming around and may get involved in some other discussion forums, such as pets.

Oh yeah, Megadittos to The Big Boss on those choices of his, and for those of you looking for a good bang for the buck, the CAO L'Anniversaire line, whether it be the Cameroon, Maduro or eXtremes you can't go wrong, depending on your own taste buds.

Hi,
Newbie here. The lord of all you see Bloofington filled me in on this place.

Right now, I think the two best NCs for under $5.00 are the Torano 1916 and the Punch Gran Puro.

Mike

Thanks for the tip buddy, and folks, as I said in a reply to my friend Michaelsean on another post, he's not only got some of the best one liners in the business, but if there's a guy who can smell out a good, inexpensive cigar it's him.

For those of you who have never tried Dos Rios, Michaelsean turned me on to it, and if I'm not mistaken they cost less than a slice of pizza.

I smoked a Punch Gran Puro the other day. It was a fantastic full bodied rich smoke. Gave me a headache but I also attribute that to a stressfull evening prior to lighting up.

I'll try one again in a few days.

Getting back to the question. My favorite ISOM is Bolivar Royal Corona and Cohiba Siglo VI which I always stock in my humidor.

Non Cubans - Davidoff Millennium Robusto, Fuente Opus X and Anejo, El Rico Habano Maduro, Ashton #60 and CAO Brazila.

Well look who has arrived to add this forum to the list of forums he's destroyed. ISOM...what a nerd. I Smoke Only Menthols.(I just made that up.)

Mike

Michaelsean. The only forums I destroy are the one's that house extreme right wing dingbats. LMAO

BTW. I Smoke Only Menthols. & lots of CUBANS!

I Smoke Only Menthols, LOLOLOLOLOL!!!

By the way, it's great to have these two aboard. Kind of like having Hannity and Colmes in your house. Speaking of politics, we do have such a forum on this web site. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, . . .

Michaelsean and Rick From Dallas turned loose on Amback's political forum.

DOUBLE hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. :D

I think Rick could have a problem here. although he's got a lot more in common with the people here than I as far as being an outdoorsman, I'm guessing politically he's outnumbered. I could be wrong though. Just seems that way.

Mike

Here's one way for you guys to find out. Getcha se'f ovuh to the political discussion forum and start finding out. Bring your friends on over to amback.com.

Watch out folks, this could get ugly if those two go over and start talking politics.

GENTLEMEN, . . . START YOUR ENGINES!!!
