Lighter

Need a cigar lighter. What should I get? Single flame triple flame ? Ideas?

I use a z plus insert for my zippo. It is a single torch. Costs about 12 bucks and I love the thing. Works every time. The only downside is that the fuel tank is small, but I think most small lighters have this problem. If you are interested, just go a google search for z plus and you will find it.

As for the number of flames, I say go with one. It gets the job done, and if you have more than one, it is a lot easier to scorch the heck out of your cigar.

I like my Z-Plus. The fuel capacity is kinda small, but its bigger compared to others I've used.

As for flames, I much prefer a single flame. It may take longer initially, but for touch-ups, it cant be beat. I do have a small table lighter now thats kind of like a mini creme brulee torch that I use most of the time to light up, but the Z-plus gets used for all other things.

Stay away from Colibris. I don't want to start another Colibri bashing thread, but many, many people have had performance issues using them.

Only use triple refined and up butane. I use Vector which is quintuple refined. Lava is quintuple refined as well. I dislike Colibri fuel even though its triple refined. I don't believe it actually is first of all, and second, it rediculously expensive for the amount you get.

I've got a Colibri triple flame Quantum...although I like the style it's not as reliable as I would like. I'm thinking about getting a different one...possibly a Xikar.

I use a simple $12 Ronson single torch, about four months old and never had a problem, I originally bought it as a stopgap until I decided on a higher end lighter but if this Ronson keeps going then that company will have my business for a while.

I love my Vector twin flame. Does a great job lighting quickly and has a big enough tank that I'm not constantly refilling it. It also has a very usable punch on the bottom.

i've had a prometheus single flame for over a year...still works very well. There was 1 night where it took a swim in my hot tub, that was about 6 months ago. After it had dried out the next day it was back to normal.

I also have (3) :

Colibri Quantum Jet

I keep a Xikar Multi tool attached to it.
It's kind of my work horse lighter - I am not a big Colibri fan, but this one style has proven itself to me.
I have one that must be 3 or 4 years old.
It needs to be kept clean (blow the jets out with my air compressor)

still the extend rocks!

I just bit the bullet and ordered a Xikar plus some Humi-Care crystals.

I paid a bunch for an X-tend myself and have to say I was let down. The top door often jammed and thus the unit would not light. I was unable to get Dupont to repair the unit because they said the store that had sold it to me was no longer an authorized retailer.

I currently use a zippo with a Z-Plus and an very happy with it. The fact that you can buy 1 zippo and 10 z-plus inserts for the price of an X-tend also makes it an attractive option.

I am with Castle Crest on this. The Extend is amazing, but the quantum jet is a great economical lighter that never lets you down. I also think Xikar is a great option since they stand behind their product as most lighters are plagued by problems.

Motion - I'll see I might be able to help you out!
Let me ask my friend - or maybe I can send it back for you?

I use two lighters. A Z-plus insert. I love it.

And the other one for non-windy places

My favorite actually is a Colibri and it's great. It's one of those side roller bar flint lighters. I've never had a problem with it. It's nothing like the torch lighters. It's similar to these guys:

http://www.colibri.com/Catalogs/CCat...refix=FTR26100 It was a gift from Jeff (thanks again, Jeff.)

quagmire made an excellent point. I also use Vector. The quality of your fuel is VERY important.

It's in a box somewhere. I'll see if I can dig it up.

What Brenda and Quag said. There can not be enough said about high quality fuel. Nothing but Vector for my Vector...loo

Colibri fuel for my Xikar and Z-Plus lighters. I can't find anyone in my area that carries Vector.
