Hygrometer needed?

Yes you want a Hygor. Just go to the hardwere store and get a remote weather staiton. Radio Shack has them pretty cheep. Salt test it and away you go.

Trav you can one up at the Evil Empire too real cheap (Wal Mart)

Trav, I use a Flukers. It is for terrariums, and so has to be pretty accurate. They are a little more expensive, but very accurate, and you can turn off the display to save the battery.

I got it at PetSmart, but I am sure any pet store will have them.

The remote thing is a good idea if you can get one small enough, all my Radio Shack carrys is the huge ones.

Perfectly normal. It showed 71% right. Just mark the Hygro so you know

For what it's worth, I have 3 of the Western Humidor Caliber III digital hygrometers. Each of them were perfectly accurate when I tested them. I've yet to hear a bad word about them. They go for about $20 a pop.
