infused cigar issue

well I made the mistake a few days ago of opening my tubed gurkha grand reserve and I left it out of its tube for 7 hours in my humidor, and then decided to put it back in its tube after reading some things on here, so I was just wondering if there is any damage done to the other cigars in my box or if there is anything I can do to reverse any damage that might have happened, thanks for your help :)

Perry,

I'm pretty sure than an "infused" cigar like the grand reserve is different from flavored cigars like acids and shouldn't pose a problem, especially for that short amount of time. We are dealing with $1200 cognac here so if anything I would think that it might enhance the other smokes. My main concern would be that the Grand Reserve itself was losing cognac, but since it was only 7 hours inside a humidor I really wouldn't worry about it.

All the best,

Joe

hahaha maybe it certainly will haha, any other opinions or should I feel alright? I think the only reason I'm a little concerned is there is a lingering congac smell in the humidor (not that that is bad hahaha, but I dont know if that is bad for the other cigars)

thanks guys,

I don't believe "infused" and "flavored" are viably different, especially in a situation like this. There may be differences in process for every flavor, but the gist is the same. The tobacco is flavored with an external element. Be it ridiculously expensive cognac, simple bourbon, or mint and hibiscus oils.

my opinion?
well, i think that if the smell is still lingering in the humi then there are some of the oils still there too.

it just boils down to "is that ok with you"

im a bit of a purist. Though that gurkha may be good with the cognac, maybe other cigars wont be. The blends of the tobaccos in the other cigars was not designed to complament the cognac in the gurkha. the oils will transfer yadda yadda yadda.

using that argument some could argue that i shouldnt put a partagas black next to a cusano 18 dbl conn. the flavors would influence eachother. However, the cognac is stronger than any oils in any non infused. Plus it isnt tobacco. all tobacco is tobacco. Cognac is cognac.

Nothing is going to happen in the course of seven hours. IMHO nothing would marry in 7 years. If it smells, air it out. Cigars are not charcoal and won't just suck everything up.

I'd just smoke whatever was closest to it and find out. We can theorize all we want, but the guy that does the experiment is usually the one with the right answer.
