I was looking at the blazer eagle. Have you heard of any problems with them? What is your favorite lighter and why?

Martin

Blazer's a good brand as far as torch lighters go. I'm using a very inexpensive Colibri right now, forget the style, but it's great. Forget the expensive Colibri's, too temperamental. Any Colibri over $30 will probably be a problem, and any Colibri over $60 WILL be a problem, although you'll love looking at it sitting next to your desk top humidors. Kind of upgrades your decor.

As far as other brands go, it's hit or miss, but my advice about ANY torch lighter is get the ones under $25. The ones under $10 can sometimes work really good for a while too. And by all means, follow the instructions on care and refilling that come with all torch lighters.

Whell... Some are so darn TAR filled... you need Power!

That will definitely help, especially on larger cigars like a Hemingway Masterpiece.

I use a Colibri all the time, they work well for awhile but always stop working after awhile.
I have a friend that sells them to me pretty cheap so that helps.
I also like Promethious (sp) lighters they work a lot longer before needing repair.
Last week I bought my first Dupont (Extreme or extend)
I also got a good deal ($100) they sell for $125-$145
It has a really nice flame and seems to work well in the wind.
I have it only a few days so I can't say much more.
A friend had one and loved it, when it quit working he sent it back and it was fixed for free.
Never had a Blazer - so I can't comment.

I love to light my cigars with a cedar match or split from a liner in a cigar box, a twig will do but never a candle , I have a Blazer torch, it is an old model, it still works when I remember to fill it! I have a few "Good" lighters, but never use them, You cant beat a good LONG Match
Enjoy, Vince

I sell a lot of torch lighters and I think I can safely say that all of them are prone to break no matter who makes them. By design I would doubt if most torch lighters will ever last more than 3 years and if it does you are lucky. I would recommend Nibo lighters. Very inexpensive and they have a lifetime warranty that is truly no questions asked. Beyond that if you want something nice, the next best thing is prometheus. I get 3 times more returns on colibris over prometheus.

I have a Cohlibri, Xiar, and Ronson. I'll let you know which lasts the longest. Got them within a few weeks of each other. I am using cohlibri's butane.

I have a Nibo and like all the qualities except for the length the fuel lasts (Probably because it is a tripple flame torch which blazes through the fuel). When it is not too windy out, I always draw back to the good old wooden sticks. Can't match the flavor they add to the cigar.

I really like my Xikar too - but if you ask me the Zippo with insert is the best. Always lights and has a nice size reservoir.

Is that the new torch zippo?

Kevin is talking about a zippo with the Blazer insert.

Which lighter has the see through bottom so you can see all the fluid?

I have the zippo lighter with the insert as well the insert is called the "z-plus" on my lighter. You can see the level of the fluid in the insert if you shine a small light on it from the back side.

hmm....insert...I'm gonna have to look into this...I used to collect zippos...is this like some type of conversion insert? I'm gonna start digging...

Yup - you pull out the guts of the zippo and put in the insert. I always have it with me, as a matter of fact I need to pick up another one before golf season. It is my most reliable lighter for sure.

I had one of those but it died. The one I'm talking about it totally clear.

After trying a few lighters, I've settled on this:

00954094000

It's wind proof and hasn't failed to light yet.

I absolutley love my St. Dupont X-Tend. I rarely run out of fluids. I am also a big Xikar fan.
