As I write this, I am currently smoking the lastest incarnation of this cigar, number 01050. The cigar has a very dark wrapper with a wonderful prelight aroma. The wrapper is rough and veiny, but it is certainly rolled with great care. This lancero burns very well and even, and the ash falls flush. The cigar hits the palate with earthy, meaty tobacco flavors. It is complex and maintains a very good balance. The cigar reminds me a lot of the Trinidad Fundadores except at a much better price. Taking into account construction, character, flavor, and value, I would rate this cigar a 91. I would love to have a box of these to age for several years. It seems like it would mellow very nice. Overall, a superb smoke with a reasonable price point.

Chris,

Great review. Interesting comparison to the Trinidad. I never thought of it when I had one last but you hit the nail on the head. I knew it reminded me of something when I was smoking it but could not place it.

I'll have to give these a try. Although i'm not generally a Trinidad fan, I have never had the Trinidad Fundadores. I'm going to pull the trigger anyway....why not.

I am anxious to hear some more reviews about the grand. Havent smoked on yet just letting them rest a little longer.

Trinidad from Altadis aren't anything that great - but the Cuban ones....mmmmmmmmmmmm
