This afternoon, I was looking for a milder smoke since I hadn't had dinner yet. I remembered this one that was part of my Cigar of the Month club a while back. I typically smoke medium to full bodied cigars so this one wasn't high on my priority list. I decided to light it up. Since it is a new year, I figured I'd try something new and review the cigar. It's my first review so be gentle...
It's a Connecticut shade wrapped cigar with very few veins. I smoked the Toro. Kinda smelled grassy with my prelight draws. I lit it up and didn't really taste much of anything the first few puffs. Then it got really creamy. I haven't yet tried a Graycliff yet so I haven't really had any cigars that could be described as creamy. This one certainly fit the bill. After the first inch or so, the grassy flavor I tasted prelight came back with a vengeance. I really do not care for that particular flavor, so I was not very excited. Luckily it only persisted for about five minutes and then became really creamy again. As I smoked, a spice started to build with a bit of cedar. It never got harsh even though I was probably puffing a bit faster than I should. The burn was perfect. The draw was as well. What was also amazing to me was the amount of smoke this thing put out. It was about a 50 ring gage, and put out smoke like it was even bigger. I put this thing out once it started to burn my fingers.
All in all, it was a very enjoyable experience. Even with my rather empty stomach at the time, it did not give me any sort of light-headed sensation or nausea. I would definitely smoke this one again. I smoked it with a cup of English Breakfast tea that complimented it extremely well. Highly recommended.
