As a newbie I am having a good time trying out new cigars. I sparked a Gurkha Legend this evening that came with my COTM shipment. What a truly wonderful, flavorful cigar. This was the first premium cigar I've had the pleasure to enjoy. I'm finding some of the milder sticks a little boring. I've ordered a few samplers and can't wait to try more premiums.
:D
When shopping online here at c.com, some cigars are considered full bodied, and others as full flavored. Is there a difference?
Thanks!!

body vs flavor...

yes there is a difference.

most of the time they go hand in hand but there are times where there is a discrepency.

the cusano 18 is a good example.

most would say it is mild-medium in body. Most would also say that it is full on flavor.

body is hard to explain. a lighter bodied cigar (macanudo)will feel light and airy in the mouth as a texture. a fuller bodied cigar (most camachos) will have a thicker texture.

most people tend to like full flavor cigars --no matter how full bodied they are.

if you want a cigar that is light to medium on flavor try macanudo, helix, or some baccarat candela. those also have a light body.

if you want full flavor try the 5 vegas type A. Its not too much for a person new the the tobacco world.

i hope that helped.

Thanks kuzi16.

I'm familiar with the Baccarat and the other ones you mentioned are on the way. In fact the baccarat was the first real cigar I've had. It does seem mild, but flavorful too especially near the end.
Would you say the Gurkha legend is both medium bodied AND flavored?

I'm still just trying to figure out what I like and I'm trying figure out how to catagorize them in the commonly used terms.

Thanks again!

ive never actually smoked a legend. I have one but have not light it up yet. If it is anything like the rest of the stuff gurkha puts out then it will have tons of flavor. Most reviews ive read say its medium to full bodied.

and another thing to remember is that EVERYONES tastes
are different. what is mild or medium or strong/full bodied
can differ WIDELY from each smoker.

i had a guy in a smoke shop a few weeks back talking me
into trying a cigar [la flor] saying he loved them, but he
recomended not smoking on a empty stomache.

i could tell he was not a newbie, very knowledgable
smoker with tastes i also shared in sticks we talked about.

i bought a couple of the la flors and i thought they were
just over medium. barely!! real good, have bought a few
more since, but no problem for me on an empty.

cant really say i am ever on empty though. time to call
JENNY i guess!!!

try some, try many, and let your senses be YOUR guide!!

and one thing i realized back when i was a new cigar
smoker. i actualy didnt mind "STRONG" cigars at all as
long as it had some real, honest to god taste to it.

some cigars just make you think you closeed your head
up in your webber grill or huffed on a diesel rigs stack.

no taste, just hack, and those stogies i stay away from.

i am sure you will find the same. some will make you a
little dizzy, but you will dig it because the taste is sooo
good!! others you will grind out after a 3rd because you
are sure you are smoking a rolled up cow pie!! :(

Thanks Smart Ash.

I'm really having fun trying all the different cigars and I'm discovering that I do like the more flavorful ones.

Kuzi, I finally got around to smoking a 5 Vegas A as you had suggested and I really enjoyed it. Lots of flavor but not overpowering either. Thanks for the suggestion!

Of all the cigars that I've tried so far, this is by far my favorite. Great review.

Hopefully, I will be adding to this topic by firing a legend up if the weather permits before spring.
