my annual membership in the J.C. Newman Cigar Connoisseurs Club.

Nobody GIVES you anything in life, EVERYTHING costs you SOMEthing.

Well, yes and no. I've always been quite happy with the nominal fee that the J.C. Newman Cigar Co. charges for membership in their club, and this year they've kicked it up to notches previously unknown.

For the ever so slightly increased fee of $15 they are now going to send you Four Cuesta Rey Centro Fino cigars, as opposed to the three Cuesta Rey Centenario cigars that they've sent in the past. This cigar is probably being offered in deference to those who are looking for a richer tasting, fuller bodied cigar with a kick, as it has the much sought after sun grown wrapper. This wrapper has become very popular throughout the Non-Cuban cigar world, as it imparts rich, complex flavors and body to a cigar. You also get a t-shirt, and no, their t-shirts don't rip in five places during the first wearing, they're as high quality as any others you're wearing.

You also get a one year subscription to the J.C. Newman Wrapper, their periodic newsletter, coupons for free cigars and other stuff. That's quite a bit for $15, as it could be argued that the four cigars are plenty. So, check it out, it's not a bad deal, and the four cigars you get can be spread out over time, so that you can get an idea of how they taste right out of the box and aged for various periods of time. This is especially good if you're not already familiar with this particular cigar, as I am not. And that's a good thing, because I'm always pretty well satisfied with most of the Fuente/Newman offerings in the cigar world, although I sometimes question the price.

But these are barely costing you anything, so give it a shot, . . .
