How do you gents store your fine cigars in your humidor?
Full Wooden Boxes:In the box, box closed, or box open?
Cardboard Boxes: Same Criteria as above
Singles: on a shelf, in a bag, in a drawer, or in a box?

I am curious here, as I have seen all these ways in shops and peoples homes. Feel free to explain your answers

I have two main humidors that I use. One is a 200-300 count that sits on top of my cabinet. Normally, I'll put all my good or special occasion cigars on the top shelf of the desktop, then the cabinet is a box only deal and I stack boxes so I can fit the most in there. I use Diamond crown humidification in all desktops and an oasis in the cabinet.

It would be nice to have a tall cabinet that would let me display boxes and singles, but I'm going to wait until I someday have "Library/Cigar room." someday.....

That big 2k-3k 8 shelf/4 drawer humidor is on the list as first priority next year. I will then be surplus one three shelf cabinet humidor(9-12 or so wooden boxes). Now if I could find an indoor place to smoke, and relax instead of being exiled to the garage or outside...

I have cigars EVERYWARE , in Humidors ( 8 ) in boxes inside of plastic lawn bags ( 4 of them) , in a cabnet , in my locker at the cigar shop & in my pocket, I dont have as many as I did in the past few years , the count was just over 11,000 sticks , but it is way down from that now, just a few hundred to a thousand, depends on what day you count, & how long it has been since the UPS man was here ! enjoy, Vince

Four desk tops. I started with an American Walnut in either late '96 or early '97 from "The Catalog" shortly after I started smoking cigars back in the summer of '96. After that I got a free El Cheapo from a friend who didn't need it anymore. It has a nice looking lacquered veneer outside and a great solid wood interior. I then bought a couple more on the internet, one with a rosewood finish, one with a very dark finish, also solid wood interiors through and through. The one with the dark wood finish also has a very artistic, small round pattern in a light color in the center of the top. All of these have the usual Spanish cedar lined interiors and do a decent job of holding humidity, with a little coaxing.

The last two I bought were purchased on the internet and very good deals.

I toyed with the idea of getting the cabinet from http://www.avallohumidors.com back when they were in their infancy. Last I heard their business and products had expanded considerably, but I've since dropped the idea of becoming a mass collector like Vince or DocBarry. I'm happy to have 150-200 cigars around the house, and don't need any more than that at any one time.

That also frees up more money to balance out the cigars by having a small bourbon, rye and rum collection.

Holy Crap!!! 11,000 sticks??? I have on hand slightly less than 1K right now, but the size of the boxes is what is making me get a Guardian sized cabinet. The two three shelf(12-15 box) Humidors are too small to accomadate what I need to keep on hand. I thought I was doing good by the fact that I need a 1k-2k cabinet with at least 8 shelves and 12 drawers. Know anyone interested in a decent sized cabinet that would hold 500 or so cigars?

I have 2 cabinets I use.
An Avallo that is next to my bed -(yes I sleep with it)
I have a small aristcrate Mini I keep just outside my smoking room.
The wood stove makes it to hot to keep it in the room.
I keep my sticks in their original boxes.
I never leave any card board around my smokes - it can cause a
musty flavor.
Not sure how many sticks I have, but I know it ain't enough!
No bags or anything like that.
I do have 2 drawers of singles in teh Avallo.
I like having my everyday smokes near my smoke room - it keeps my lazy ass from running upstairs and getting at the good stuff.
When the wife and I are heading out I will hit the upstairs cabinet.
As for humdity.
The Mini has a pound of Climmax beads in it.
The Avallo has a set and forget & a pound of beads.
Just a back up incase it gets hot and the humidity jumps up.
They will draw RH from the air and hold it down.
All beads are 65%, but I smoke 99% cuban and prefer the lower RH
CC

i don't have the space for boxes. i take 'em out and leave the cello on to keep 'em from getting banged up

Switch, here here on your comment about finding a place to enjoy your puros indoors. Chicago just got dumped with snow and the bar down the street lets me smoke but they wont serve coffee which is my favorite compliment to a cigar.

As for storage, Cigarsmoka and I have the same cabinet so my storage setup is pretty much the same. I prefer storing my sticks inthe box in the humidor, box closed and cigars out of cello. I find it ages the best under these conditions. 68%

Open boxes, out of the plastic, into the DiamondBack..I usually go up north, over the border. pick-up a box or two, or i go a few cities over, pick up some samples, and go from there...sit back in my "Sanctuary", and roast one up. Anyone try the "Diablo's"??

I keep three humidors going. The first, my coolerdor where I store boxes (15-16 depending on what I can cram in there). The second is a 400 count wood humidor, I store cigars out of the boxes and cello in there, mainly cigars I'm aging. The third is a 50 count desktop that I smoke out of. I restock it every week or three from the other two humidors. This keeps me from digging thru the larger humidors on a regular basis. All the humidors are humidified with oasis foam. I keep the larger two around 65%, the desktop I'm smoking from stays around 63%. This system is working for me.

Diablos are so so. The wrapper is clearly painted and not a true maduro like so many others out there.

"Painted?" Uhm, hadn't considered that, I thought for sure it had a little pepprica sprinkled on the wrapper though. They claim it is not a flavored cigar, I'm not sure that's the case. In regards to the statement; "clearly painted," did the wrapper appear unnatuarally dark or did you get black lips from smoking it?

Most all black cigars that are solid have some sort of dye processing. Natural "maduros" are not that perfect. I should not have sounded so harsh as most manufacturers do this to one degree or another and it is not always a bad thing. It is more for appearances. It is the guys that are dying natural wrapper to make them look maduro when they are clearly not. My complaint about the diablo is that on the one I smoked you could lick your finger and wipe off too much of the color. I would have been fine with it if they left it alone. I guess I would sacrafice appearance for a cigar that looks natural and strong. I want to know what I am smoking.

I've got about 50 or so in a pretty cool looking humidor from E-bay that holds about 150. I can't believe how nice is is for the money. Prior to that I just kept them in a travel container.

1,000 or 11,000. What's the difference to someone like me? I have four. Well, actually I'm smoking one, so I've about three and a half. Heh heh.
