been smokin 6 yrs. and am now up to 2/day and would like 3. until now, ive always went to local cigar store and picked out 15 or 20 cigars[all different] and found that usually, 6.00 and up is a good smoke, and all 2.00 cigars get pitched. going online, i can get my same 6 buck cigars for about 4, and if i check all the sites and deals/bargains, i can get something deceny for 3bucks. catch is i must buy 20 or 25 the same. then there is the retailers brands. VERY AFFORDABLE but ive never tried, or evan heard of them. dont mind spending 2 on a cigar and pitching it if i dont like it, but hate to buy 4 or 5 bundles of diff types and brands, just to find that its the same 2 buck cigar with a different label. can someone enlighten me on what i am buying. jr,s thompsons, cigar.com. fink, stokers, and many many more. are their labels less because they are someone elses crap, or are they decent cigars without the overhead of name brands.

No they are decent. Not seconds or anything. Check out Sol Cubano http://www.solcubano.com available at http://www.cigar.com I cant figure out if cigar.com has them made exclusively but they are made my oliva and are damn good. Cigar.com house labels are okay, made by davidoff I think but mixed filler. I tend to stay away from Thompsons house blends. You really get what you pay for there.

oh and if you want a great everyday smoke try the flor de oliva bundles. I never hear any complaints about them and they are less than 2.00 a cigar.

The bundled cigars will never be the same smokes as the more expensive ones, they might be blended to taste like some of them but never the same, at least to my knowledge. Some people have exclusive deals to do bundles with well known manufacturers, and others have cigars anyone can put a band on. It depends on the retailer. We like the exclusive deals because I don't like the idea of sharing blends with other tobacconists, so I can speak for us and say what you get with our private labels, can't be found elsewhere. The best way to find out is to taste these cigars side by side, if it's the same thing, it'll be pretty easy to tell.

dont need it to taste like something else, just be good. i like variety, and cant get just one of them at local shop. most internet retailers wont sell just one, or offer a sample pack. i dont want to buy bundles of something i havent tried.

uhh, cigar.com will sell you one of any cigar on the site.

I WILL ORDER ONE OF EACH TYPE, IF I LIKE, ILL GET BOXES. HOW ABOUT INPUT ON OTHERS, JR?

Thompson's house blends

In response to Macallan:

There's a Thompson that I smoke regularly. It's the Thompson Vintage Especials Torpedo Natural. It's my "every day" smoke. A box of 24 for $75 bucks put them just over $3 a stick with tax. They remind me of the CAO L'Aniversaire Extreme.

Incidentally, Thompson also has some pretty good deals on humidors. But generally you'll find better cigar prices at cigar.com. Thompson will also sell you smaller cigars in ther promotions and samplers. Cigar.com, on the other hand, will wrap some pretty beefy sticks in their samplers. I recommend the 90+ rating sampler from cigar.com. I've met some of my favorite sticks that way.

Thompson's "buy a 100 cigars for 100 bucks" deals are generally crap. A lot of the cigars Thompson sells cheap are made cheap. But the experienced smoker can trip over decent deals and promotions from time to time on their site.

Thompsons will screw you eventually, may not be today, may not be next month, but bank on it, they will get you eventually. Trust me, it's only a matter of time.

JR's has some pretty good smokes. After you have been smoking them awhile they all begin to taste the same though.

Like with most things shop around, find what you like, your taste will change. Just go with the flow.

Yes, we wouldn't want to get ME started on the "T" word, but just remember what NooMexicaliCowpoke said. The "T" word WILL eventually screw you. They screwed me six years ago come this May and they haven't seen another penny of my money since. Tough. They don't deserve it.

The "T" Word

Heh. I noticed your post in another thread concerning a cigar retailer out of Florida. I was wondering if it was the "T". :) Now I know.

If you're interested in JR, try the JR Ultimate. I've not found a better everyday smoke. May I add to that, I've been smoking cigars since June of 1979.
