Yes I'm a newbie and the other day I bought my first humidor. Thanks to the info I found here I realized the Hygrometer that came with the box was a POS so I took it (the Hygro) back to the cigar shop where I bought it. I bought a digital Hygro this morning so I didnt want to exchange the POS. I had hopes of trading it for a nice smoke. Well I talked to the owner and he gave me 2 nice smokes for the POS. I got a Joya De Nicaragua Celibration and a Punch Royal Coronation. Pretty good trade for A POS hygrometer if I do say so. I'll be visiting Bob often in the future. I also signed up for a Poker Night sponsered by Punch. For a $35 buy in I'll get a 8 stick sampler and the chance to win more. Sounds like a lot of fun to me.

Sounds like you got a great deal  ! Plus poker night? that's pretty cool. I' have not had a decent poker night in ages. Hope you enjoy it bro  !!!

Poker night sounds like a fun time...
Not a bad trade, all the analogs I've seen have not worked well, I always go with the digitals, and even those I'm a little weary of. How long have you been smoking cigars for?
A few members around here might suggest you use some climax beads, which won't go past one of the two preset RH's, 65% or 70%. I use a Cigar oasis, which is awesome...but it all depends on the space you have, what size humi did you buy?

I have seen posts about the beads and I'm considering them. I want give the humidifier a sporting chance though. I think it will be a good thing in the long run to know how they work. As for me, I've been smoking for yrs but never seriously. I was always a puff it and run kinda guy. Now that I'm semi retired I find the time to sit and relax and enjoy a good smoke and a cup of joe or red wine. Recently I stumbled onto Cigar.com via a link on another web page and one thing led to another and here I am soaking up all of the vast knowledge here and learning to enjoy cigars. The Humidor I bought is a 50 stick box and it came with a ashtray, cutter, hygro, and humidifier. I posted a picture of it here in this thread http://cigar.ambackforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=15337

Let me know what you think.

Tismedt, a little hint that may help. Keep your humidor on the full side in regards to cigars. This will help maintain and stablize the humidity.

I've got an order in the mail as this is being typed to address that issue. Acually 2 orders. I'm trying to decide what will be my main cigar so I'm buying singles and five packs for now. This will also give me the opportunity to sample the online and local retailers. I'm open to any opinions you may have about retailers, good or bad

Hey guys and dolls, can you spot the symptoms? :sm_angel:

Yup, I think I see it too. By June he'll have three desk tops. For football season he'll buy himself a cabinet, and by the time the Super Bowl rolls around he'll be sponsoring a Super Bowl Smokeout at his place. Bring Your Own Bottle, the house supplies the cigars.

It's only the beginning. In another year, shortly after the Super Bowl, he'll be asking about how to get the wife back and get unhooked from cigarbid.com. :cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh: :rotflmao:

Yea I can get a bit over zealous with things at first. An example would be computers. We had 1 computer in the house for yrs, I decided it was time for an upgrade so I started searching. I found a site about computer parts and joined thier forum. That was 3 yrs ago. We now have 4 working computers in the house and enough spare parts to build at least 4 more, and I have built dozens of computers for friends and family, and all I was looking for a motherboard/cpu upgrade. :D I also joined a Folding Team and now I'm near the top 1000 (out of 4 hundred thousand) producers in the world. As for the wife, I could'nt drive her out the house with a mack truck. After twenty yrs I think we're in it for the long haul.
