You and many of your young buckaroo friends must have had a hard weekend. Only a few of you have posted.I may have to change my thinking- my ties are older than a lot of you, and I have fillings older than almost all of you.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the youth of today- you are our future.
With my best intentions- let's get something started. A new challange to all.

Rules: Your answer can only come from memory- no Almanacs- no sports books. I trust all of yuou.
Only one person has answered this trivia question correctly in the last twenty years and it was me.

Question- Babe Ruth was traded to the New York Yankees by the Boston Red Sox. Ruth was to play right field for the Yankees in the coming season.A current roster New York Yankee outfielder who hated Ruth called the Yankee owner and asked "is this Ruth trade for real."When the Yankee Owner replied " Yes the trade is real" the outfielder stated " I quit" and he did.
He went on to be one of the most famous person in all sports history. Who was this man?

Being a Yankee fan as well as a fan of sports history, this one"s easy...I'm surprised none of the boys from the windy city picked up on this one quicker than me

Answer PM'd

I think I know the answer, but I looked it up. Kind of surprised me.

PM sent. Let me know if I'm right.

I had no clue, so I looked it up. When this quiz is over, could you share your source for these quotes...it appears some versions of this story have him being cut, not quiting.

I am not good on the sports trivia. Ask me anything about cigars and I am your man.

The PM's on this is out of control. I forget who helped me unlock the easy to answer PM's- but my thanks. Amberfourm.com & private messages is easy and I'm pre-loged on. It takes four tries of re-entering- page cannot be accessed. Just the problems with time and speed. AND I DON'T LIKE IT. My monthly server charge via telephone is #30 a month and it is slow.I refuse to pay $100 a month- the quoted price in my area. I can reduce this to $60 a month if If I buy $1,000 of equipment. THIS SUCKS.
To those of us who remember when TV was free, I never thought I would pay for TV. I did agree to $9 a month in 1980 when cable came through my neighborhood. I now pay $ 100 a month and nothing good to watch except a few Discovery,History and Golf Channels- Food TV is also OK.
This is just an old guy venting but I would rather have the old days, and spend the extra money on CIGARS,GRANDSON & WINE.
I love the internet for information- I am an animal for new information, but I survived when it was the Library.
I quess the end of this is as follows:
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SPENT TIME IN THE LIBRARY PULLING BOOKS AND READING.
Malone

Sorry, Malone,

The last time I went to a library was on election night 2000, NOT to pull a book and read. I was just waiting for my wife to get off school.

Come to think of it, I never pull any book and read in a library. Only go to the library in school to study and do homework.

Last time was about 3 years ago. In the time it takes me to drive there I could already be printing out the info I need online. Come to think of it, the last time I went to the library was to use their computers! My ISP was down and I needed to access my mail. Now if my library served coffee and snacks like Barnes & Noble...

I didn't know Tiger Woods played ball back then!

George Hallas quit the Yankees and later went on to be a founding father of the National Football League via the CHICAGO BEARS.
Look it up.
