I have $100 or so to spend on some nice cigars to give my humidor a bit more class and me some more smoking pleasure. I was wondering with all the wise heads that use this forum, if you could post your ideas as to how I should spend?

I look forward to reading your thoughts! :D

Many thanks,

-James

Wow, just got an e-mail from my stepfather - he has just told me he has sent me a little surprise for all my hard work recently...I read further into the e-mail and looks like my cigar will have a bit more class pretty soon!! He's sent me a Cohiba Sublime LE! This one will have to wait for a special occasion!!

Woohoo!

My apologies, I didn't make that very clear.

I'm looking for various cigars...

While we're on the subject, what are your thoughts on the Sol Cubano connecticut??? :? :? :? :hypercolor:

I've smoked the Sublime and I think they are awesome. Some think that it needs some more aging and in some respects I'm inclined to believe them. But that doesn't mean that this smoke is not smokeable right now. Go for it and if you can try to age one. I only have one left for long term aging seeing as they are expensive.

As far as something I'd recommend get a Por Larranaga Petit Corona, I just had one today and they are great. Very oily. Yum

i have one resting but have not tried it yet.
As far as a good selection i would get some of these. (note i like to keep a few milder cigars around even though i don't often smoke them. Sometimes cravings arise.)

Zino Platinum Sceptor Series Low Rider - complex and not as mild as it seems. Runs around $10 a stick.

Any padron 1964

Rocky patel vintage 1992 torpedo - just had one yesterday and loved it, thought the 92 was better than the 90.

A Camacho diploma

An Ashton VSG in whatever your favorite size is.

Those won't eat up $100 but i would bet a few people recommend some cuban cigars, which i don't know anything about. The zino shocked me, i was not expecting that cigar to be good.

Well, I can't speak for the Sol Cubano line, not had any of em yet.

There are a lot of great cigars out there for good prices. Padron Maduros, Torano 1916 series, Camacho Corojos, Joya de Nicaragua Antanos, Fonseca Serie F, and The Edge all jump to mind as being priced at approximately or less than five dollars at my local shop, and all are great smokes if you like medium to full bodied cigars. If I want to spend a little more I'll pick up some Camacho Diplomas, RP Vintage, or a CAO Brazilia. If your taste is more towards the mild-medium end of the spectrum, I can't really help you there, but I've got friends who swear by Montecristos and Macanudos.

I've tried a few Zinos and was very impressed. Thanks for the info guys! 8)

i think the sc conn. is very good. the maduro isnt bad either.

Ok my shopping cart looks like this:

Camacho Corojo Ltd. Diploma, 5 x 50, Natural, Honduran x 2

Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 Torpedo, 6.25 x 52, Natural x 2

Padron 1964 Natural Torpedo x2

What else do you reckon??

Ando,

The SC Connecticut would be to light for your tastes. Go with the maduor. I just picked up a box and absolutely love them.

I'm taking the luxury of considering that you are 1st Scottish. 2nd- a man of background & family history, and finally in a profession that is molded by Fast, Better and Safe.
Therefre, I am recommending the following:
Daytime: Oliva "O" Maduro Ole 4.75X50.
Anytime: Diploma Natural 5X50.
Evening: Oliva "0" Maduro 7x54
Evening: Padron 3000 Maduro
Evening: Padron Churchill
In conclusion, The Diploma Natural is one of the most challenging, complex cigars I have smoked. If you take the time to pay attention- this smoke delivers like no other for the price.
If I had to pick one: a dead heat between the Oliva and the Diploma.
Malone
Keep the stories coming. Makes me feel young again.

i did also enjoy the CAO mx2. Good if you like maduro because it is maduro times 2.

Thanks for that Malone, I have a few of the cigars in your list on order and will have a look at the others you mentioned.
Thanks very much for all your help guys :)
