I thought we could use one of these...

Since new people are coming through a lot now...I thought It'd be a good Idea to introduce yourself here...

Tell us something about yourself, what do you smoke? What are some of your fav's, a little Bio? You get the Idea....

and Welcome to the Forum!

Hi everyone,

I'm 2nd Lt James Anderson of the British Army. Some of the guys know me, but for the new guys...

I'm an officer in the British army, and have seen action in Iraq, Belize, Kosovo, Northern Ireland and was part of a British support team aiding the Asian Tsunami disaster.

My favorite cigars are:

Montecristo #3 and #4
Davidoff Grand Cru #1
Cusano C10
Don Carlos #3
Camacho Diploma
and I'm constantly on the look out for new cigars...

Welcome to the cigar forum! And may I add, you won't find a much better service or variety of cigars than from cigar.com - highly recommended!

Hello, My name is Bob. I moved to South Dakota from California in 1989. My 33 year old son got me started into cigars 2 years ago. I can not get enough. I just found cigar.com 3 days ago, and I think it is great. I am 58 but just a novice in cigars. I learn a whole lot from the good people like you. So far I like Avo LE5, Fonesca Vinetage Churchill, Pardon Magnum and CAO MX2. Looking forward to learning more from all of you.

Hi, I'm Kristin (aka Woodgirl). Been around this site for about two weeks now.

I started cigars when I was a freshman in college, the fancy-pants liquor store I worked in added a walk-in humidor, so I thought I'd try it out. They started me on macanudos, which I still have a place for in my heart, but now I prefer olivas, fuentes and CAO. I took a little hiatus between then and last year (almost 9 years!). My neighbor and wanting to rebel against stereotypical suburban mom behavior have helped me get back into cigars.

I am not a prolific enough smoker to have absolute favorites or even commit to a full box-- I like to smoke around. The weather (I live in Minnesota), a small child, a non-smoking husband and being an asthmatic runner also tends to get in the way of my smoking... I find several planets have to be aligned for me to get a smoke in so I try not to waste my time with so-so stuff (but I know I don't have the palate a lot of the other smokers here have yet).

So far I've really enjoyed all the people here and learning more about the finer things in life and getting some good suggestions of things to try as well as advice on things like travelling with cigars.

Plus I love being able to buy singles from cigar.com and I've had great experiences with my orders.

Hi, I am Walter, I registered today in this forum because its more professional than others I have seen. I am cigarlover since 13 years, I started with Dominicans, which are still my favorites. I loved Davidoffs and Avo, but since my visit at Domenico Cigar Manufactory at Punta Cana, the smooth Torpedo is my favorite. I hope you all enjoy - take care.... :p

My name is Steve and I live in Prescott, a small town in northern Arizona. I have smoked cigars for years but really only became serious about one year ago. I found the cigar-of-the-month club a great way to not only try several types, sizes, etc., but to learn more about them and what to expect from each smoke.

I have my own small architecture firm so that means I have little time to relax. Fortunately, I have a very supportive wife who not only encourages me ("you look like you had a tough day; why don't we sit outside for awhile and you can enjoy one of your cigars") but also buys them for me :D Nothing like sitting out by the fire pit with a Partegas watching an AZ sunset!

This forum is awesome. I have learned much and enjoyed more than a few laughs.

Favorites (so far) include Partegas No. 2 & Hoyo de Monterrey. I was recently in Mexico and had a Partegas De Lux and found out what all the fuss was about with Cubans. What a cigar! I recently purchased a few Padron 3000s based on what I have read in this forum. I hope to try them this weekend.

Anyway, thanks for the forum and to everyone who is keeping it civil, friendly and fun!

Hey, all

I posted on the main site a couple of days ago explaining my complete newbieness....I've really only smoked about 5 cigars (you call em sticks???...cool), but I am hooked!!! Looking for a humidor, and of course some good cigars. I've already got some great advice...thanks to you all!!

I am an avid homebrewer....love good quality beer!! and find that cigars and beer go great together....... looking forward to learn allot, and I expect to visit this board on a daily basis!

Hoppy

Where in MN are you at? If you are in or near the twin cities, you should check out Stogies on Grand if you haven't already.

Woodgirl

I live about 20 miles west of Rochester, but I do get to the twin cities often. I make runs up to Northern Brewer in St. Paul to pick up beer making supplies. Haven't been to Stogies, but will sure stop the next time I come up.
There are 2-3 smoke shops around here but prices seem to be high, and not much variety.

Thanks for the info!!

Cigarsmoka,

Thanks for starting this subject. I mistakenly thought Ando was a US soldier in another thread, but am still appreciative of all forces lined against the evil in this world.

I'm from Hartland, Michigan and my wife and I are big caribbean vacation lovers. We love perfect beaches lined with white sand and amazingly blue, turquoise, and green water reflections....no other beaches in the world compare. I chose the thread name of uncle ernie because he is the owner of a beach bar on the most amazing beach of all, shoalbay. He serves well priced barbecue chicken, and ribs and potently good rum punches.

My dream would be to retire to this location or at least spend a large portion of the year there smoking cigars, drinking rum punches and snorkeling right off the beach.

I try to recreate this scene in my backyard every summer less sand and water and tropical sun....

Uncle Ernie:
I have just started going to the islands for a week in the Winter, and am planning a week in Feb. 2006. My last trip was to St. Martins- great beaches, topless women, very good food/drinks and two La Casa Del Habano dealers on the island.
Where else would you suggest that offers the above.

Malone,

Go to Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus in La Romana, Dominican Republic. You'll find everything you want there. Plus, La Romana is one of Dominican Republic's largest cigar production areas. You won't be disappointed and the resort is all inclusive. Look into it. Take care.

Hello, let me introduce myself, my name is Mark and I live in Walker, Michigan (northwest suburb of Grand Rapids), I am an Imaging Specialist with a large midwest retailer based here in Walker. Now that the winter has finally broke and the weather is getting nicer my cigar consumtion goes up now that I can set out on the deck and enjoy a good beer or glass of bourbon.

Been smoking cigars for about 25 years, some of my favorites are La Gloria Cubans, El Rey Del Mundos, Padron, Romeo y Julieta, one of my favorite everyday goto cigar is the La Unica, hard to beat the price.

Favorite things to do while smoking a cigar, relaxing on the back deck, fishing, setting in my deer blind, playing cards, hell who am I kidding, everythings better with a cigar.

Even someone who has been smoking as long as I have been, I am still picking up pointers and things I didn't know about cigars off this forum, Thanks a bunch.

Mark

Being one of the older guys- I welcome all who think outside the lines, particularly my younger friends. Yes, we Seniors need to listen to our sons/daughters and grandchildren, and stop being cranky. The future of us Seniors is through our youth of today.
GO YOUTH.

i should introduce myself....
My name is Bill, hence the name i have chose for the forum (all my friends have called me that for about 10 years now). I am 23 and have been smoking cigars since i was 17. My favorite place to smoke is the club i just joined, or outside my apartment if it is sunny and not too hot. My favorite lines of cigars (in order) are Padron, Camacho, Fuente, and im just starting to try CAO which looks like it will find its way on that list. I prefer a cigar anywhere from medium to full body and i love them to be complex. On the topic of cigars i am a sponge and want to absorb all the info i can. This is why my favorite posts to read are reviews, or the what did you smoke today posts. I just get curious to see what others enjoy. I tend to read malone, mcallen, and smoka's reviews the closest because i have found i generally agree with their reviews. My drink of choice is a vodka on the rocks (effen is my favorite), but i am learning a little about scotch and have been trying it. I am also just now learning a bit about pipes. My family owns a tobacco farm in ohio so i know a little bit about how tobacco is grown etc.
