Montnoir, I saw this in another thread you had posted....

"They say in a fuller body cigar (one that is usually a maduro), the wrapper has been 'cooked' many times and will not age properly or something."

Natural and Maduro wrappers don't really contribute to the "strength" or "Power" to a cigar. The wrapper has to do, mostly with flavor and aesthetics. You can easily have a natural wrapper Powerhouse, look at the Diploma for instance, full flavored, full bodied Natural powerhouse...

Maduro's aren't nescessarily full bodied, but that is a common myth among cigar smokers....

Just my $2cents but I had to Clarify. :D :wine:

Yeah, I used to think that maduro=strength, but I've come to find that I like maduros on medium bodied blends far more than I do on full bodied ones. For example, I love Padron maduros but I'm not a big fan of Camacho Corojo maduros. The character of the maduro wrapper is really a benefit to some cigars, but I think the Camacho's unique spicy taste is lost with it.

Stay far away from the Fidalgo Negros...unless you like purple lips! They are a bland, boring smoke with an insanely dark wrapper, but they stain your lips like grape coolaid

That's a near-sure sign of a dyed wrapper, when I smoke a La Gloria Serie R maduro or a CAO maduro I get a black/purple stain on my lips. The cigars are ok, but the effect is unwanted and unattractive!

you know what else is unattractive!!
this....

I did NOT need to see that... I can appreciate some junk in the trunk, but damn...

GOOD LORD....

I would say no........ :?

Thanks for the clarification! :)

Actually wait, when I said full bodied, I meant the flavour.

Hmm, do you know what contributes to the strength (nicotine content) of the cigar?

The Body comes from the filler blend, and binder mostly, it's the general blend of the cigar

The Nicotine just depends on the tobacco...I would imagine, but I'm not positive on Nicotine....

Well, I've learned something from this thread...I was one of those who thought that maduro meant stronger-more flavor.

I also didn't know that they made thongs that big.

If you think about it, it's not just 1 or 2 specific components of a cigar that creates flavour. It's all the components blended together that creates the flavours you taste as you enjoy a cigar. Each component is as important as the next.

Each component is important, sure.

But....if you take a cigar blend and change the filler it will be less of a taste change than swapping the wrapper.
I've done a taste test with this and stand by the results.

One trick that the guys have tried that visit Camp Camacho is Christian Eiroa will take the cigar you are smoking...(mine was a Corojo Figurado) and he will wrap a fresh leaf over the cigar (as is, while you are smoking it). The taste did a complete 180. From a strong earthy cigar to smoking a quicky mart lettuce cigar.

At that point he asked us "Now what percentage of the flavor do you attribute to the wrapper?"

I agree, each component will definitely impart a different degree of flavour to the cigar.

After Bido792's picture post, I think I need a La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero to knock me out completely.

Cigarsmoka, does Diploma do the same trick as La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero?

Which trick? The thickness of the wrapper? I'm not sure, If it is sun Grown then yes.but I love that cigar too....I don't know too much about Litto's stuff, Perhaps there is someone else out there who is a big Litto Gomez fan?

I think he meant the "smoke this and get knocked on yer azzzzzz" trick, that was my interpretation at least.

Oh yeah....That Trick!

It'll do!!! :D

They both have a couple tricks up their sleeves...
