Okay so lots of people have been asking about the difference between the various camacho corojo cigars. I spoke with everyone over at camacho today and and got the difinitive answer. Make sure you read all the way to the bottom becuase there is some exciting news at the end.

Camacho Corojos all have the same filler and binder but are seperated by the wrapper type. I am going to assume that everyone knows the difference between shade and sun grown and the implications of each. Thor has writtens some about it. Basically sun grown is stronger.

Camacho Corojo Natural: Shade grown corojo wrapper picked from the second and third primings (From the top). a little less robust (although still very full bodied) a more delicate wrapper that typically burns easier.

Camacho Corojo Maduro: Including both Camacho Diploma Mad. and Monarca Maduro. To my surprise they use a mexican leaf for this. That is why it tastes so different. It is also treated differently.

Camacho Corojo Ltd.: These are only the best leaves picked from only the 1st priming from a sungrown plant. This makes the wrapper more durable and thinker. Harder to burn but lots more flavor.

So right about now poeple mus tbe wondering "what about the 2nd and 3rd primins of the sun grown plants?" That is what I was asking. Basically what does the leaf on the tiers used for corojo natural get used for on the sun grown plant. This is the good part.

Camacho Corojo Dark: A darker natural wrapper from primings 2 and 3 from the sun grown plant. There are fewer of these cigars made then of the corojo ltd. (diploma) line and are extremely hard to come by. Typically only available a few times a year.

I had no idea this dark style even existed but am excited as hell about it. I have some cigars coming in next week. There will probably be a limit of 5 cigars per customer per visit. I will post when they are up for sale.

Exciting!!

another Corojo to add to the line up!! :hypercolor:

I have seen the "dark" label on occasion.

Did you talk about the "just released" 2003 Corojo stock?
(new release of aged leaf, mixed among regular orders)

Corojos are good stuff. 8)

Dave... most of the camacho corojo I am recieving is all 2003. I really like the crop. These things have made big strides over the past few years. Especially in terms of the diploma. Now I am off to smoke a "PaPa Bruce Lee" (you know what thats about) :D

mmmmmmmmmm.....Papa Bruce Lee ( I like that name)

RAVYN!!!!!

......wh.....who....who's that......

It is your Faaather.......come with me...to the DARK side.....

but ...I like the natural....

Search your feelings RAVYN....you know you want the DARK....

well...OK :D

but will it get me a hot chick with pastry buns on the side of her head :?:

I can't wait to try a Corojo from the 2003 crop. I've smoked through easily half of my local tobacconist's supply of the Corojo Figurados, probably my go-to cigar for a good robust smoke. Sadly, he doesn't carry the Diploma natural, which is another on my to-try list. I'll be towards Raleigh though on business this weekend, so I'll try to stop at Tobacconist of Cary to see if they have some.

Great hard core cigar information. Thanks, Mr. Svenson. A good meat and potatoes thread.
