I went into the humidor today and really enjoyed something that I often overlook. When I was younger I loved tennis. I will never forget the familiar smell when I would crack open a new can of tennis balls. It was like a refreshing aroma that made me think of all the reasons I loved playing. I have not played in a while but today when I went into my humidor I ran my regular box inspections of my aging smokes to give them a "checkup"

When I age my cigars I take them out of cello, rebox them and put them away. When I open that box and take in a nice big wiff off the top of the cigars I get that same feeling I would from the tennis balls. A rich tobacco smell of oils glazing the wrappers. Yummy.

For those of you guys who only have puchesed a box that comes cello, do yourself a favor and next time you are at the shop, have your tobacconist open a box of uncellod cigars and take it all in. Especially the diplomas or even better, a fine box of cubans.

I just thought I would share my moment with everyone. It was really kind of sappy.

I've taken the cello off of most of the cigars in my humidor. Every time I open it I love to take a nice long whiff. I often find myself opening it and just smelling them and looking at them, even when I'm not going to take one out to smoke at that moment.

I do the same thing. When I get new cigars I order them all to get naked at once. After that I direct which ones will go in which humidor, . . .

"youseguyzgoindesktoptree, youseguyzgoindesktoptwo, etc., y'unnerstan'????

And it's such a pleasure to open them up to check the hygrometer and get blasted with that rich tobacco aroma of forty to fifty cigars in each of four humidors, all different kinds of cigars, suddenly exploding up into your nose with that wonderful smell. I guess we're all sappy. The aroma of a just opened humidor with cigars that are anywhere from brand new to two or three years old just "cooking" away is very, very hard to resist. One shouldn't open them too much when humidity is hard to come by though, like Northeastern winters.

Well that would only take care of one of the aromas  :D

Plus I would end up working for free, and I have bills to pay.

Meet me at the corner in half an hour! :eek:mg: :eek:mg:

I, too, do the same thing!!! I always find myself going to my humidor and opening it up just to smell the aromas.

all the time here, i also un-cello my cigars for aging. I was just thinking last night i might dedicate a desktop to cubans instead of leaving them in the box like i usually do. Incredible aroma.

Apologies for my extended absence. Has been a pretty hectic few weeks as you may have heard on the news. My troop took some heavy fire, I've just had an operation to remove 3 bullets from my shoulder, so I'm feeling much more perky!

Haven't had a cigar for about 2 weeks, looking forward to enjoying one this evening!

I'm the same, absolutely love that smell that fills the room as soon as you open up the humidor. I'll do that whenever I've got a spare minute, just to check everything is alright!

Hope all has been well in my absence, here goes the long trek of searching through all the old posts to see if anything interesting has come up!!

Three bullets, one shoulder. I'm sitting here shaking my head, thanking The Lord that I never had to go to war, and marveling at folks like you who have the resolve, the gonads, and the perseverence that I could never have in such circumstances. God bless you. I hope you do not suffer any permanent loss of function/athletic ability or whatever else can happen, but I don't see how a human can take three shots anywhere and ever be exactly the same again.

At any rate, it's good to hear from you, and we're over here praying for all of you. As for all being well, of course it's well, because we're not "over there." And as for that cigar, enjoy it with the blessings of The Lord, and may there be many, many more in your future. I bow to, rather than salute you, on this day when we honor those who have, do, and will serve in the cause of justice and freedom across the world.

I could not have said it any better myself Bloof.
Glad to hear you are safe Ando, albeit with 3 badges of honour on your shoulder. My prayers and thanks are with you! Be well.

3 to the shoulder. wow glad to hear you are going to pull through. What rounds did you take. 7.62??? .223???

I am smoking a cigar in your honor.

Bloof did say it well, I too thank you and your band of brothers over there putting it on the line so we can set here and enjoy this fine day.
Glad you are well and now out of harms way.

God bless and many thanks.

James,
It's good to hear that you are OK after such an ordeal. It's with great respect and honor that I say thank you for your service in keeping the world peace. I'll most definately smoke one in your honor this weekend!

God bless,
Paul

i smoked a few fine cigars in honor of all who have served while watching the president at the tomb of unknown soldier. I am glad to hear you are ok and hope you get better asap. if it weren't for the troops like yourself i wouldn't be able to enjoy days like today. You and ALL the other troops are in my thoughts always and i deeply appreciate everyone that serves so that i can live my life in peace.

Glad you are safe James. Hope you have a quick recovery.

Having had several family members serve in the armed forces I am grateful to all that make that sacrifice. I have a son currently serving in the Air Force so I pray for him and all members of the armed forces, U.S. and allies, every day.

Once again, all of your generosity and warm thoughts are immense and has once again left me speechless!

The shoulder is back up and running again, its a bit stiff but nothing too bad, stitches come out at the weekend so will be much better after that.

Macallan, good guess - Took 3, 7.62's, which are now sat proudly on my mantlepiece.

Thanks again for your prayers and kind thoughts guys.

Much appreciated :)
