Can anyone tell me how to know the difference between a true Cuban Cigar vs a DR replica ??

I have smoked both of the Monte Cristo and I think the ash from a true cuban is darker with little white dots.. Can anyone confirm this ??

Just was wondering how to tell the authenticity of a true cuban without the band and box ! !

hmm, basically the only way in that situation is to have smoked cubans a decent amount before hand so that you know what is or is not characteristic of the flavors and general qualities. I don't think you can go by color of the ash and have it be too solid. I am no expert but from my experience I can tell within a couple puffs if it is a real cuban or not. Its just hard if you have nothing to compare it too.

Well, the prelight aroma should give it away first hand, and yes the ash is darker than any other cigars because of the nutrients in the soil...

And then, the taste is most important, I have had a Box of Fake Cubans where the Box, bands, seals, everything was completely legit, but the tobacco under it all was fake...the only way to tell they are fake is by the tobacco itself.

Just my .02$
I'm sure some else will chime in with more opinions!

I thought the ash was darker..

I have smoked these before in a cuban and in DR remakes...
The taste was right and the ash was darker....

It did taste the a original vs a remake and just wanted to make sure I was right..

I appreciate the speedy feedback on this question ! !

With the montecristo it shoudl be fairly obvious. The cuban version has a lot more flavor aroma and complexity than its dominican counterpart.
