Question About Cracked Wrappers on Ashton Heritage

I'm a fan of Ashton VSG's and have been trying their new "Heritage Puro Sol" but find the wrappers on many of them (about half) crack or peel. I end up throwing some of them away (spendy!) or just endurng it. Have others found the same thing? Other gars in the humi seem fine and I don't think it's my own doing, although the wife says I've been wrong about that more than once in the past. Anyone else? Any ideas?

Were they a recent purchase. If they were very dry when you received them and placed into a humid environment such as a humidor, there is a tendency to crack.

It's probably what Axe said, and by all means, don't throw them away. If you have a cigar with a wrapper that's peeling, cracked, etc., when you smoke it, you just have to give it a big Little Oral Annie treatment first, then it will be fine to smoke.

I'm serious. I couch it in hilarious terms, and for the people who have seen me do this in public, I'm sure they all have gotten big laughs, but it works. You have to put that cigar wayyyyyy down in your mouth and suck it, suck it, suck it really good, but gentle, with soft pressure and full lips. And you have to make the cracked or peeling part of the wrapper, really, really, REALLY WET, SOOOO WET, . . .

And you WILL be able to smoke that cigar. I've done it several times, and as a matter of fact, on the last box of Hemingway Masterpieces I bought, nine were for giving to others, and one is for me. Well, the decision as to which one was made when I opened the box, and saw that there is a distinct slit almost all the way down the length of one. If you think I'm throwing out a cigar that I usually get for $12.50-$14 apiece by the box, and that can retail for $20 for singles, that's crazy. :duh: :duh: :duh:

Just give it a nice BJ, and you'll be able to smoke it. You might not want to do this in front of friends, family, surveillance cameras, etc. There's always some Wisenheimer in the crowd to say, "HEY, you do that REAL good." :dunno: :sm_angel:

That's great Bloof!!!

I love the imagery!!

Oh man....That is too good! go on Bloof, let no say you are not a cigar aficianado! "Peeling or cracked wrapper? no problem, give it a good BJ!" That should be the presidential act for world peace!! :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Well, I don't believe in wasting food, good whiskey, good cigars or anything of that nature. And you know what they say about desperate times and desperate measures, . . .

That's TOOOO MUCH INFO!

I do appreciate the feedback on my original inquiry, but I hadn't expected quite such explicit instructions about how to fix the problem. Next time I have a hard problem, at least I'll know where to go! LOL!

Well, the Vanessa Del Rio treatment notwithstanding, just trust me that whatever description you want to give it, the method works. Don't waste your money or good tobacco that poor people the world over spent their hard working hours producing for us.

If you spread the (wrapper) leaf apart and stick you tongue
in the opening - wiggle it around a little - it will make for a better smoking experience as well

The problem is that the person you purchased the cigars from let them get way to dry.
