OK gents,
here's the situation: I need to know what size would be the best to use for a travel cigar case for a vacation in an area where cigars would be available. Would you start with a case that holds 5, 10, 15, or 18 cigars? What would be the best size for a day on the 'green'(rifle range, golf course)?
I am thinking that I will take a few with me, and bring a few back. That is, if the old guy that rolls them right in front of you is still around. Hawaii bound from Mid July to Mid August....ahhhhh a real vacation! Of course it's main intent is to deliver a very special box of cigars to a customer that demands the highest standard of delivery, and personal care, and yes, being in this day and age of terrorist threat, I cannot fathom leaving my family home alone :D

When I go on vacation I bring my cigar caddy model 3540. It holds 15 churchill size smokes and is waterproof which means it's great for a fishing trip as well. I usually only bring 5-10 cigars with me, but I always bring back some new ones to try and the extra room helps.

i have the same one axe has and i might buy a second :D
my problem is i like having a big selection

but you would probably be safe with one 15ct caddy

i thought a 5 case would be good enough but it is too small.

I don't have a case (I own a cigar tube for night outs) but I figure that since your vacation is so long, you might want a larger case to bring some favorites of yours in case you can't find them in the area where you're staying! Plus, a larger case = bringing home more sticks :D

I bought a used Aluminum briefcase. New it was $450.00. I paid $50.00. I lined it like a travel cigar case. Works perfect and will hold five boxes of cigars depending on the size of the boxes. If I were to do it again, I would buy a plastic waterproof briefcase that floats and add a shoulder strap- lockable is nice..

I am afraid that I have all five sizes of the "Cigar Caddys".
When i travel I normally take the 20-25 cigar size about half full and the 4-5 cigar size for going out and about.
When I am going to a place that has resonable prices on Cuban Cigars (Spain) I take the xL 25-30 cigar size.
I seldom use the 10-15 cigar size. It is either to big to carry around all night or to small to to take on a trip.
If you are packing Churchill size cigars don't believe the capacity they advertise unless you want to box press the sticks.
The rubusto size case is handy if you like those little sticks. It holds about 12 robustos.
They all have given me great service over the years and recommend them for anyone who travels. I bought all of mine at cigarbid.com. Usually as a special, filled with cigars, at a big discount.

Great advice. I think I will more than likely get two then, one of the 5's and one of the 18's. I like the Otter Boxes...maybe because they look like a mini rifle case. Of course Waterproof is good, but I don't think I would be hanging on to it while I was Boogy Boarding....hmmmm, drop knee with a 4.5 x 54, yeah it might get wet on the landing! :D

I have both the 5 ct and 15 ct caddies. They used to do me fine until I realized that I smoke at least 5 cigars a day on vacation. That means 35 cigars a week. So now I bring the savoy leather travel humidor and worst of all it wont fit all my smokes. I usually have to ship them to my destination becuase they take up to much room.

However, I am honoymooning this January. I booked the nicest sweet at the Royal Bahemian in Nassua for 7 days. Rolls Royce trasportation and personal buttler the whole time. All you can eat, drink, room service, the works. I have never spent so much on a vacation in my life but I figured when I am married and my wife spends all my money I wont be able to spoil myself like this for a long time. I am actually having them put a humidor in my sweet for the week so I will have a place to put all of my diplomas :D
