Last night my fiance and I hit the town for my birthday. I booked a room at a hotel here on the north shore and embarked on ruths chris for dinner. It has been a really long time since I have been there because since moving to chicago there is just so much variety for a good steak.

Upon sitting down around 6 pm I promptly ordered a macallan 18 (neat) and my lady helped herself to a tangaray and tonic. I was sitting at the table that would become mny home for the next 3 hours as I informed my waitor that we would not be ordering until after afew pre dinner coctails and a cigar.

Probably the best part of the whole night was the fact that I could sit and smoke a cigar in a resurant in a regular table and get served food all the while. With so many anitsmoking pussies running around out there I really marveled in this pleasure. And no one made faces, only compliments on the charming aroma of my cigar.

Over the glass of scotch I smoked my first cigar of the night. An H Upmann No. 2 Torpedo. Folks it was AMAZING! 91/100 pts. I knew the night would be off to a good start. After an hour we were ready for some red meat and our waitor promptly brought us our menu. For Brook and I it was the same:

1. Lettece Wedge With Blue Cheese
2. Creamed Spinach
3. Garlic Mashed Potatos
4. 14oz Fillet (medium Rare/ Rare)
5. A bottle of Penfolds Shiraz

When the steak arrived it was sizling in the butter it was coooked it. I grabbed my knife and following my longstanding tradition cut her in a half and took my first bite right from the middle. Folks, the meat just melted in my mouth. No chewing necessary. I could have just stuck a straw into my filet and enjoyed like a drink.

After dinner, lots of wine, and a complimentary dessert I moved on to anoter item that had been dominating my thoughts all dinner. My first stik from the box of Partagas D LImitada No. 1's I bought. I enjoyed it over 2 cups of coffe. 92/ 100 (This box is going to get better and better of the next 12 years)

Never before have I had such a good cut of meat, a perfect scotch, and back to back excellent cigars. 26 will be a good year. :D

Ah, the three things that make my knees weak: cigars, fine food, and a fine evening on the town. Sounds terrific Mac.

Mac, you forgot the most important thing of all. Your company. It doesn't matter how old the scotch, how perfect the meat, or the rating of your cigars, if you don't have the greatest thing of all. Companionship. It is a great pleasure of having the perfect night along with the perfect lady on your side. I am glad your night went as well as planned. See you during pheasant season!!!
