Once upon a time, in a galaxy far away, on "another web site," a lonnnngggggg time ago, I made the post below for fun and frolic. As someone who has now been a New York Jets fan for fully 40 years, entering my 41st season of fanship, I think it still applies. With a quarterback that throws the medium range passes like a girl, and having given up the best "other back" in football for :dunno: :duh: reasons, I think it's high time I repeated it here.

Once we Jets fans knew promise. Then we knew January 12, 1969. Then we knew less. Then we knew nothing. Now we know less than nothing, all is darkness and void. So, I hereby reprise . . .

The Wise New York Jets Fan

After Week 1 - we could still go 15-1;
After Week 2 - we could still go 14-2;
After Week 3 - we could still go 13-3, get the first round bye and home field advantage;
After Week 4 - we could still go 12-4, and win the division. If they screw up out west, we might even still get home field;
After Week 5 - we could still go 11-5 and probably win the division;
After Week 6 - we could still go 10-6 and probably get Wild Card;
After Week 7 - we could still go 9-7, salvage respectability and MAYBE get Wild Card if they screw up out west;
After Week 8 - we could still go 8-8, and besides, we're rebuilding!!!;
After Week 9 - we could still go 7-9, which isn't bad considering the injuries and a couple bad calls by the zebras;
After Week 10 - we could still go 6-10, but look at all the important guys that went down;
After Week 11 - we could still go 5-11, but if it wasn't for the injuries and dissension on the team, it would have been a lot better;
After Week 12 - we could still go 4-12, and that won't be the WORST record in the league;
After Week 13 - we could still go 3-13 and maybe get the first round draft pick;
After Week 14 - we could still go 2-14 and probably lock up the first rounder;
After Week 15 - we could still go 1-15, and hey, we not only get first rounder, but we tied our worst record ever!!!;
After Week 16 - WE MADE HISTORY!!! NOBODY'S EVER GONE 0-16!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:angel: :sm_angel: :bolt:

I like it if this was a few years ago! I still bleed green! Why didn't we go after Bledsoe?? Shoulda kept Quincy Carter, I hate Pennington!

To paraphrase a recent Country hit:

HOW DO YA LIKE HIM NOWWWWWWWWWWW??????

:neer: :cryinlaugh: :neer: :cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh: :neer: :neer: :neer:

Bloof,
I printed it and put it on the wall at work for motivation! We got Miami next week. Funny how Jay Fiedler got more points in the fantasy league that ol' Chad. That game made me sick!

Sick? I found it down right PAINFUL! :cry:

After the fourth fumble they should of brought in Fiedler,
he could not of been any worse!

Watch in Miami Fiedler will start as Cbad will be recovering from the Helmut to Shoulder hit.
(I'm hoping that's what happens)
Chad just SUCKED so BAD!

Just kiddin' guys

ok, yes the JETS sucked, but, how good did the KC defense turn around from last year??

:shocked:

I tend to think the Chiefs defense is not improved anywhere near as much as certain commentators think. The Jets looked awful that first game, particularly Pennington.

It'll be interesting to see what they do defensively at Oakland this week. This has the makings of a 60+ point total game (cumulative for both teams).

I hope so anyway :) I've got Moss and Trent Green on my fantasy team.

On a related note (only by geography) Messier retired today. Watching him lead the rangers to the cup was one of the top 3 sports moments for me ever.

Ahhh Messier...How much I hated him when he played for Edmonton, and how much of a fan I became once he signed with the Rangers :wink:

Hey dbrad, you're RIGHT, and when you're right, you're RIGHT!!!

"Wise" and "Jets Fan." That's like an oxyMORON. :cryinlaugh:

Awww now, the Jets have had good days, and will again ... someday ... we may not see it ... :sm_angel:

January 12, 1969, that's it. Jesus will return before the Jets even get INTO another Super Bowl, let alone win one. :cry: :evil:

I remember a good ol' boy that played college ball down here in Alabama and did pretty good. Then he came to NY and played for the Jets and did pretty good.

Then he ended up wearing panty hose ... :rotflmao: :cryinlaugh:

Actualy, that good old boy was from Western Pa. He did make a quick stop in Alabama just to show them how to play that there football game.
