Armpit of the world....Al Asad, Iraq
Hey everyone,
A friend of mine went to the Dominican Republic last month and came back with a box of Leon Jimenes #2's.
I was just curious if anyone has ever tried these. On Cigar.com it says that they're mild to medium and pretty good.
They were a little dry from the trip so I haven't tried them yet. I just put them in my humidor to moisten up.

Anyone ever had one?

You gotta let them sit. Last ones I had were a couple years back. As I recall, they were 'fair' when young. After resting in the humdididor for about five or six months, they were a nice medium bodied smoke.

Then that's what I shall do!

Thanks for the tip.

I haven't had one in years. Funny thing, I used to get Leon Jimenes "seconds" from Thompson's that were delicious. When I would buy the first line LJ's from a cigar store, whether right out of the store or with a little time in the humidors, they didn't taste like anything.

The Colonel's tip is interesting. I don't know if I ever tried aging any of those very long, and I've since moved on to other cigars. I sure wish I could get those LJ seconds, though. They were great all the time.

How could a "second" taste so much better than the regular line?

:dunno: :duh: :dunno:

The same cats that make la aurora make leon jimines. Miami Cigar is one of the oldest cigar factories in the DR. THey are definatley more mild and what many 10 years ago would have classified as a classic dominican cigar. Do let them sit some and then enjoy. There is a lot of history in that cigar.

On a side note La Aurora just came out with the 1492 line. All I can say is that this was an amazing cigar. Great flavor and I highly recommend.
