1) Has anybody heard about Patel taking over the Padron anniversary line? I was talking to Nish Patel and he told me they aquired the line but I didn't really think about it until I got home so now I'm not sure if he meant the leaf contract or what.

2)What is this new Old World cigar? Nish was saying how its his new favorite. I almost got one but he didn't have any with him.

Rocky Patel does not grow his own tobacco. His cigars are made for him by General Cigar and Nestor Plesencia. He has his own "factory" but it is just space in one of these facilities. Padron is very much so a stand alone brand and I dont think you will ever see them team up with anyone. They have no interest in pushing their current capacity and like things the way they are.

There have always been a lot of rumors surrounding indian tabac and rocky patel. Namely during the boom there was a huge rumor that he was appointed the CEO of davidoff.

The Old World is a new cigar they came out with at the rtda show. I have not smoked it yet bt have heard good things about it.

In my opinion the RP vintage can hold its own up against the padron anniversaries.

On a side note be looking for both Edge XX outs and Rocky Patel Vintage XX outs on Cigar.com in the coming weeks.

You sure Mac? He said they sell tobacco to a bunch of manufacturers. Or maybe I just misunderstood what he meant.

Like I said, they source their production and tobacco. Very seldom will you find companies that both grow and roll their cigars. Such an arrangement marries them to their tobacco. Buying rather than growing allows companies to be selective and continuously try to obtain the best crops year to year to maintain consistency. Again, this is not true for all cigar makers but for many it is.

I cant be positive of anything. I am only speculating on what I know of Rocky and Padron.

I'm happy with Padron as they are...I really like thier cigars.
Me and Razorking went halves on a box of edge seconds...2 bucks a stick...darn good deal...so far only one was bad. I wouldn't buy em for 6 bucks a stick...but 2 bucks..oh yes.

Agreed. While the 1964 Anniversary is my favorite smoke currently, the RP Vintage compares quite favorably.
