Anyone know of any cigar bars in SF to go to? I am out that way on a business trip in a couple of weeks and I could use a night away from work.

Thanks man, I figure I need to sneak out of some of the dinners early and find a place to relax. I appreciate the info.

Kelvin, make sure you get your fantasy team ready for that Sunday!!!!! You got that off last Sunday wth yer damn Defense! See ya when I get back.

Scott - it came down to the last play when the Giants intercepted in the end zone - we were all square up until that point - if it got completed for a TD you would have won. No bragging for me -I know I was lucky both weeks with my defense.

I will be bringing my laptop just in case of last minute changes!

How is it going down there? Let me know when you have time for a smoke in Union when you get back. Hope you are enjoying your time off.

Kelvin, unfortunately there is no such thing as a cigar bar in California. Smoking of any sort is illegal indoors in any public place. You can find places to BUY smokes but if you want to smoke them you have to be outside or in a private residence.

Whats up brother?

I am having a great time down here, the weather has been crappy the last day and a half from Rita. Did the Disney and Epcot thing. Went to Bush Gardens on Wednesday and spent a good 6 hours there until the wind picked up real good and the animals were irate! Went to Thompson Cigar Co. yesterday to just check it out. Wasn't too impressed. The employees bothered me just as much there as they do over the phone, and like I said, I really haven't oredered from there, but they call me once a week.

Went to Clearwater today and went in the Gulf. Almost got hit my this huge ass jellyfish! Going to Channelside tonight to have a few drinks and a few cigars. I am taking a CAO 65th Anniversary (my wife bought me a box of 10 in Ybor), a Hemingway, and the Rocky Patel you gave me. I hope I don't get those dirty looks from people! (you all know what I am talking about!)

Hopefully, I can get to Union on Tuesday, l will be home Sunday afternoon to see my Jets (another gift from the wifey section 109 row 3, for the anniversary!!!), so I will talk to you then.

So those "Bars" that you can buy smokes, you have to go outside? That is lame, I hate California sometimes. I wonder why I can light up at the cigar shop, but not a bar? La Salle Cigars in Montclaire has a nice "havana" room and they serve drinks, and allow you to smoke, but only cigars you purchase there. You can bring a bottle of scotch and no one seems to mind. Although it is the east bay, and probably out of your way if you are in the city.

Calibus:

The Cigar Bar and Grill gets around the law in a novel way - there are no employees - only owners! I was reading up on it on the link Rory sent to me. Brilliant! Looks like a pretty good place - I am staying probably 10 blocks away at the Palace Hotel so I already told my business partner that we are there the first night we get there. He doesn't smoke at all but as long as there are hot women (and the reviews seem to indicate there are!) we will be there.

But man, Calibus - what's next - you can't have a cigar at home? Some day I plan to live in California but we gotta change a few things there!

Scott:

Glad you are having a good time down there - wow - good gifts from the wife - I am impressed! Good luck with the Jets this weekend - have fun at the game.

I actually may be able to join you for a smoke on Tuesday - I am out on Wednesday - Charity Golf Outing for a fraternity brother of mine - and wouldn't mind picking up a few of those Ashton Maduros while I am at the smokeshop. Let me know how that looks. Hopefully I will be able to meet up with CastleCrest also this week.

Thanks to everyone for your help with the SF Smoke places - if you guys are around October 13th or 14th let me know if you want to grab a smoke there. Don't know what I have to attend but I plan to enjoy myself for the few days I am out there.

When I'm in Santa Fe I always like to go to the Plaza Hotel, sit out on the balcony and have a cigar and beverage while watching the tourist out on the plaza.

Oh wait a second...you mean that left coast place. I don't get there that often.

Hey Axe:

Have you ever been to the Cigar Bar and Grill at 850 Montgomery?

I want to try it out while I am out there - they have us so damn busy during the conference that I have limited time to enjoy myself.

You know, I haven't gone yet on the count of having to wake up too early for my classes.
I've heard good things from everyone I've spoken to about the place though.
You going there may be just the excuse I need to finally get my a$$ over there.
Who knows, maybe Calibus will show up and we could have a mini-sitdown :dunno:

*Shrug* Sounds fine by me. Set up a day and I will pick you up and we can shoot over there.

I have to be there on the 13th and 14th - I am going to try and get out of dinner quickly so I can get there. If I can't I will book out of dinner early on Friday and get there - do either of those nights look good for you guys? I will boogie out early if one night is better than the other. My business partner doesn't smoke but he is always up for cutting out on dinner meetings.

I think Friday would be better since I won't have to wake up early the following morning to cut up sides of beef in the butchery.

Plus if we have a repeat of last Friday (I found out that sometimes Cryovac'd packages of meat sometimes get punctured in transport and come in smelling very ripe), I don't think a night of fine cigars and fine spirits would mix too well with that :bigpuke:

Friday may work best for me too - I have to meet for dinner early - 530 - I will book out of there as early as I can. Anybody else able to make it on Friday night?
