hey,
the guy i'm buying a cigar for has only had like the white owl cigars. Definately time to move on to bigger and better things. I really have no idea what he would and wouldn't like. What about the Romeo y Julieta?

Maybe, but consider Flor de Oliva Cameroon's. They're mild enough, but flavorful enough, too! :D

Also try the Sol Cubana's Connecticut's; they're very good.

Don't want to kill the guy as he transitions from White Owls to REAL cigars!

I would go with the Cusano 18 - I like to hand those out to the occasional cigar smoker. Go with the Robusto - nice flavor.

i second the c18, its a great beginer smoke. or a sol cubano conn. wraper. could always be real mean and give him a diploma rofl.

Laura, the Cusano 18, or the 5 Vegas Gold are both terrific mild smokes that have alot of flavor.

ive had some success with the montecristo white with my new smoking friends. its a name they know and its pretty mild.

wow so many choices! thanks for the advice guys. good thing i've got a little while to decide. mmm.... it's gonna be perfect.

All these suggestions are excellent, especially with the Romeo y Julieta proposed by the lady herself. They are inexpensive, smooth and with enough flavor to satisfy, but none of that Earnie Shavers punch to destroy his desire to try other cigars. Of course, the jokes that have been made are funny, especially in light of some of our threads/posts about times we've been knocked silly or even vomited.

Please remember, do give the young man a meal before any cigar, at least a good sized snack. All that aside, some more suggestions, both inexpensive and expensive could be:

Dominican Montecristo, pretty much any of their line, even their Le Cigare Des Artes.
CAO Gold
The Griffin's
Dunhill, now also known as Dunhill Vintage or Dunhill 1994
Playboy
La Unica (not the Cameroon, not the first time)
Montesino
Hemingway (small size to start him off)
5 Vegas (slightly larger meal)
Gran Nica
Cibao
Macanudo Vintage 1984 or 1988
Partagas 150 (if this guy is really a special friend, Dad, a favorite uncle, or that "certain" guy. VERY expensive.)
CAO Maduro
CAO Black
Fuente Candela (a green cigar, real novelty, nice flavor)
La Gloria Cubana Serie R Maduro (not a Cuban cigar)
Cuban Heirloom (also not a Cuban cigar)
Hamilton's House
Elvis (some have a kick, some don't, almost all have good flavor, only one web site I know showing them)

Sorry those are the only ones I can think of at the moment. I'll try to chime in with others if I remember.

i would listen to bloof... he likes his cigars "well aged" :D
sorry bloof, but i saw a mac on your list

Not to sound like a broken record but the cusano 18 or the sol cubano connecticut are great.
