So when do you part with a cigar?

I'm just curious as to how much cigar you guys toss after smoking. I know it depends on time, construction, taste, yadda, yadda. But when is a cigar usually finished for you? I personally rarely smoke a cigar past an inch and a half but recently I found this site:

http://www.mycigarblog.com/blog/cigars/

I could never smoke a stick as far down as he does but is this normal? I rarely smoke with other cigar smokers so I have no idea.

i usually get a little passed half way cause to me they start tasting acrid at that point. some cigars have the right stuff and ill smoke them to a nub.

Ditto.

Interesting Blog, good find.

Personnally I smoke most cigars to the nub, I don't find that they really start getting good until about half way thru the cigar. The last third is always the best part of a cigar for me.

I agree Cowboy. That smoky flavor towards the end is my favorite part. That blog guy must use hemostats or something.

I'll smoke it down until it gets acrid. With my normal smokes, this end up being about the 1½" point.

I'm with jihiggs and devilldog; I rarely smoke to the nub, gets way too hot and spoils the enjoyment for me. (Hate da hot smoke)

Unless the cigar takes a bad turn, I usually smoke it to about an inch. I noticed that after it gets to a bout 2 inches, I blow thru it for a full breath and that takes any of the bitterness out of it. (a little tidbit from Vince :D )

To me it depends on the cigar, burn, flavor, aroma, etc.. if it's burning good and the flavor is right I smoke it down as far as I'm comfortable holding the nub in my fingers.

Usually try to avoid searing finger flesh or singeing hair from knuckles and mustache. Doesn't enhance the cigar's aroma in a positive way.

I smoke it ALL , & if its a real good one I finish it in a pipe, , the reverse blow ot will clear all the nasty taste if you find you dont like the short nub, , just blow through the cigar with it pointed away from anything that the ash will fall on , like your shirt, I dont have a shirt with out ash holes in it hahaha, , just take a deep breath, & blow slowly through the stick, hold a lit match or lighter to the end & watch the flame go, when it is lit you can remove the lighter , when it has burned out , take a moment to let your head clear & then take a puff, it will be like a fresh lit cigar .
Enjoy, Vince

I agree with Dbrad, as every smoke is different. Sometimes I can't wait to put one out and some, I wish, would never go out!

I typically only smoke half to 2/3 of a cigar. I am Winston Churchill man. He said "The second half of a good havana is as good as a drugstore cigar." I tend to agree. Sometimes if it is amazing I will smoke further down. It is just that I typically find my finish after 2/3.

I usually smoke half to 2/3 of the way down. Lately (like last night) its until the wife yells at me for smoking in the basement and she can smell it in the house. :x

I am with Dbrad4d!

Bloof's tweezers  :rotflmao:

I always felt guilty like I was just pitching cash. This makes me feel a lot better. Vince, as to you technique I naturally learned to do that on every draw. I blow just a short puff then draw.

I don't use tweezers for my joints, I use real roach clips. :cryinlaugh:

As for cigars, like Bob, down to about 3/4 of an inch, where the fingers are having trouble holding it. I think Vince is the all time champ of not wasting anything though. I remember on "another web site, long ago and far away" where he first told us about that business of putting the end in a pipe and finishing it all. All I can say then and now is . . .

:eek:mg:

yea capt, i use the small flat head tool on my leatherman. you can use a fork too.

Maybe I'll dig out those old roach clips. Well... not so much old and won't take so much digging but I'll get 'em out and try 'em.
