Just out of curiosity what is your profession? Does your place of employement allow you to smoke? This can be a very pricey lifestyle and I was wondering: How can one afford all of these beautiful smokes? I'm a bookkeeper at a bookstore who prefers quality over quanity so, I buy cigars when I can afford to.

Word Processing Temp on third shift to a giant corporate law firm about 15 hours a week, 10-15 hours a week for my sister's law practice, mostly computer, also general office work and legal assistant duties. I also have about 10-15 hours a week of word processing and desk top publishing duties that I perform out of my home office for various freelance clients. THAT is when I can smoke and work at the same time.

Currently I am an estimator for a steel fabrication company.

In the past I have been an engineer, high school teacher, deputy sheriff, and project manager.

The company I work for would allow me to smoke in my office if I provided a suitable air purifier, which I am working on. I keep a 25 count humidor on my credenza with a few C.A. magazines. I do go out in the shop and smoke a cigar now and then.

Most of the cigars I buy are between $5 and $10, with a few between $10 and $30. I have found a few between $1 and $2 that I enjoy smoking everyday, allowing me to be choosy when I smoke my more expensive sticks.

As far as cost, most of the ones I smoke, like and would spend money on I can usually get at $1.50-6.00 apiece. I occasionally can and will purchase a more expensive cigar that I really like, but I haven't had the money to do that for a while. I also receive at least a few dozen cigars every year from various internet cigar friends.

I have been completely and pleasantly blown away by the good will and outreach expressed in the American and worldwide cigar smoking community, since first joining a cigar forum five and a half years ago. I'm still reaping the benefits. Hang out for a while here Brenda, get to know a few people, show you're decent and honest, and you will be paying for a few less smokes as time goes by.

I am retired , but I did smoke at work when I had the chance, I smoked a pipe for years & not to many complained about it, I was a cigar smoker at times , but didnt smoke them exclusivly till about 15/20 years ago, , I do pick up a pipe a few times a year now, but only to try a new tobacco or to tick off some pain in the @$$ liberal who bitches about my cigar , I did work in Radio( part time ) for 4 years when I retired I had to get out of the house or the wife would have killed me, I wasnt able to smoke when I was on the air, the station was smoke free, but I did pop out on the fire escape during the news !, now I own ( with a partner) a cigar shop , so I do smoke at work when ever I want , & what ever I want , dammm its great to be the king ! hahaha Enjoy, Vince

GO NAVY

Where did I miss you actually becoming a half partner at that cigar shop? I was under the impression a while back that the fact that you had anything to with that aspect of it was classified information.

BUDDY!!! CAN YOU DO ME A BOX OF PLAYBOY CHURCHILLS AT COST???

:cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh: :neer: :neer: :rotflmao: :pumpkin: :rotflmao: :cryinlaugh:

LOL!

I have been a commercial artist for 16 years, and I also am an owner in 2 paintball parks & 2 proshops, and am an owner in the largest national professional paintball training camps. I smoke just about anytime I wish. :D (One caveat; I do NOT smoke in front of my children, 8 &11, who sometimes come to work with me.)

I could say the same about a few conservatives  . Hey, I'm a vegetarian, atheist, feminist, liberal who drinks, smokes and who knows a good time when I see it.
Sorry, it looks like the cats out of the bag about your shop. Time to :bolt:

I smoke what I can afford. Sometimes that ~$8 sticks, and other times it will be ~$3 sticks. I have a 40ct humi. No smoking at work due to it being public school property. When I ship out, I will not be allowed to smoke on base at all. New AF mandate that recently went into affect that no smoking is allowed on base, even when not in uniform.

I've been a computer programmer for several different companies over the past 8 years or so. I am not allowed to smoke at work and, unfortunately, I only get an hour for lunch so I don't really have enough time to get a smoke in at work. I am trying to change that though - though my wallet and wife would not be happy about that!

I have a 50ct humidor (courtesy of a forum member - thanks Dean!) that I keep pretty full. Most of my cigars are in the $3 - $8 range, with a few above that. In the interests of keeping bank acount a bit higher and the wife's temper a bit lower, I don't buy cigars very often. I do the cigar.com Cigar of the Month club and buy 2 or 3 from local shops and that is about all I buy every month. Since I only smoke two or three cigars a week, that keeps my humidor at a pretty stable level.

Some of the best cigars I've gotten have been by jumping in on the Pay It Forward thread a few times. I'm also excited about the upcoming box pass!

Bloof is right though - this community has some of the best people in it that I've ever seen online. It really amazes me how much they enjoy doing a favor for someone or surpising them with a couple of sticks in the mail.

Obviously, I'm in the Marine Corps.
My MOS (job) is Career Retention Specialist. Fancy name for HUman resources.
Far cry from what I used to do as a long range recon surveryor for artillery.

They let me smoke whenever I want to as long as it's outside!

Retired. I have a cigar any place, any time. Nobody tells me what to do, not even me.

Brenda, I was in AZ last month. I looked at every person there, I didn't see you. Maybe next week when I get there I'll look again.

You all sound like a bunch of stand-up guys. This forum is great for someone like me (new to the cigar world.) You really know how to make a gal feel welcomed.

I am a Corrections Officer, and I work at the county jail. I work from 3pm to 11pm and have a lot of overtime. Unfortunatley, I can only smoke after work or on my days off which are Monday and Tuesday. God, I wish I had a normal schedule!

I second that. Very warm community here!

I have a small investment firm in Sussex County NJ. Can't smoke at the office because the building itself is smoke free - but since it's my firm I sneak out to have a smoke - like a shop in Union to meet up with Scott (USMC) or the local shop - tomorrow it's Dingman's Ferry to finally meet Castle Crest.

I'm glad you narrowed it down for me. I'll keep an eye out...

I'm a systems analyst for a holding company that owns about seven different banks (not branches of one bank). Prior to that I was an intel analyst for the Navy. The holding company just opted to make the entire area around the bank smoke free. But I only somke two or three cigars a week so it doesn't really bother me.
