I smoked a Diploma last night. It did not light well, the burn was uneven, it went out several times, the wrapper started to come off.... AND I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

If you have not smoked one of these, then you just dont understand

Lol. Nice...Ive yet to smoke one. I may pick one up on friday from the local shop and give it a try.

Who makes them? I keep forgetting.

Macallan: Shame on you!

Didn't your mother ever teach you that if you do not bring enough for everyone, don't bring any for yourself!

Now, please pass the Diplomas out to everyone in the class...

LOL, Some Diplomas will be in my holiday lineup this week. I just have to make sure none of my relatives manage to get their grubby little hands on my stash. Maybe I'll leave a box of Vintage 97's out as a diversion

I will be honest. The first time I smoked one, I hated it. But the second time, I hated it then too. Not unitl the 5th time did I actually enjoy the uneven burn, the constant relighting, and the stinky a$$ aroma of the Diploma. For those who have yet to smoke one, please do not give up on them. You will eventually be rewarded.

Axe,

If you like the Corojo 97, stay tuned over the next few months. I scored a big lot of the last remianing Corojo 96 available in the country and will be busting out a big Corojo theme promo with a freebie. :D

Interesting. Some of my favorite cigars have been notoriously uneven burners, and with thick, moist tobacco that needed relighting.

I've only smoked a few diplomas but they have been good burners for me. Haven't really had a problem yet with them.
You guys might have gotten a bad batch....send them to me and I'll inspect them....one at a time...slowly....unfortunatley, they will be incinerated during the inspection process...

Christian will tell you that you need to work for this cigar.

Due to the Sungrown wrapper, and since it uses one of the last primings on the plant, it is a really thick wrapper that needs attention when smoking.

Could be an excuse, but it makes sence to me. I keep my Diploma's at a lower RH, and they seem to burn better since that....

64% seems to be my number. 63% even...

We will all stay tuned.

ive never had a diploma burn uneven, but they are a pain to keep lit, they go out quickely if you put it down. putting it down usually isnt a problem for me though lol.

I'm with you, cigarsmoka, and I've been saying that since my days "long ago, and far away," on "another web site."

I have noticed that there are varying thicknesses of tobaccos, sun grown wrappers usually being among the thicker ones, in addition to some types of filler. I have also noticed that as you said, these tobaccos may need "more attention" during smoking. You and I also like our humidity levels at the same level. Anybody worried about keeping cigars at that level shouldn't be. What it will do is ensure that your cigars with thicker, moist tobacco will burn better during smoking, and if you're like me and smoke a lot of Girly Man Cigars, with light Connecticut shade wrapper, and smoky but weak tasting Dominican filler and binder, they'll shred a bit on cutting, but smoke just fine.
