Paintbrush. You should have it by now. You may want to call a sales guy and find out some details. Sorry for the wait. Typically people get their cigars a couple of days.

I am a beginner, suggestions please

I am quite the beginner. I am very impressed with the openess and helpfulness that I have found by reading message boards from the cigar community. I am considering buy my first humidor perferrably one with a glass top so I can display my smokes. I have smoked a few different cigars but my tender palate can't take much. My favorite cigar that I have been stuck on for almost a year is the Cohiba Red Dot.

I average about one smoke a month without a humi. Any suggestions for a beginner. Best way to try some new smokes. Any recommendations on a good humi to buy. Any suggestions on a some good cigars for a beginner to try? I thought this black friday deal may be good to try but most of those seem to be much stronger smokes. Am I correct in saying that?

Thanks,
Jackie

Hi Jackie!

There are a great group of folks here, a wonderful place to get together and talk about an enjoyable aspect of all of our lives!

Beginner smokes could include Flor de Oliva Gold, Cigar.com's Blue Label, 5 Vegas Gold, even Macanoodles.

The problem we have is this:
You say that you enjoy the Cohiba Red Dot, and that isn't usually among a beginner's first picks . The Red Dot is medium bodied, so with that being said, perhaps you would enjoy stronger smokes.

Such as Cusano 18, Cigar.com's Red Label, the Black Friday selection this week, Oliva Master Blends, some of the Rockey Patels.

I am sure the other forum members will list some sticks for your consideration as well.

Let the journey begin!

Cusano 18 is a must. Also, consider signing up for the cigar of the month club. That will get you 5sticks a month and help you find your palate.

It's about time another Red Dot smoker joins this forum!! Jackie, welcome aboard. This is by far the most friendliest cigar forum on the net. You will gain alot of knowledge and advice from the guys and girls here. If you like the Cohiba Red Dot, definitely try the Cigar.com Cameroon label. This cigar is also constructed with a Cameroon wrapper, like the Cohiba. Plus, it is 1/4 the price!!!

Thanks guys,

I really appreciate all of your help. Capt, the red dot is my favorite for sure but I don't ever hear much about it. I am glad to hear someone else out there enjoys my first favorite smoke.

Thanks for the suggestions I am definitely making a list. I will start trying these one by one.

Any suggestions on the best resources on the net to learn about humidors.

Any ideas on a good humidor for the beginner. I am thinking of something in the 300 - 500 count range. Preferably with lots of glass so that I can see my smokes. I like the idea of the upright, display humidors with the glass doors.

Any other ideas, anyother suggestion on smokes.

Thanks guys,
Jackie
