Finger Pinch Cutting Method

Here is the way I cut my cigars now. I find this easier than a cutter, especially with Cuban cigars that are extremely flat capped.
Of course, this will not work with torpedo cigar shapes. Basically, you pinch the cap, rotate it 45 degrees and pinch it again, to make a full circle. Notice on the last pic, the pinch is centered, and not near the edge. I always wet the cap first, then pinch. Be careful not to pinch the whole cap off, or you will be left with a cigar that will unravel.

Looks way clean, would have thought it would have been ragged. I cary a cutter with me, will have to give this a try.

I've been using this method more and more as of late. There have been a few times when I forgot my cutter and this method worked in a pinch
It's a helluva lot better than biting the end off.

Wow, that looks really good. I'll have to practice that technique before trying it on a real cigar. Now then, where are those Thompson's....

When I am cutterless, I use a similar method. I use my finger nails to um...circumcise the cap, going all the way around and then pinching the cap off.

I almost exclusively pinch off the ends on my cigar. Getting the touch and feel really also gives you a good look at the construction of the cigar.

Just tried this on a Punch Rare Corojo and it worked great. I might make this my only way as I had a lot of control on the cut.

I don't have much for fingernails and I haven't tried it yet. I am still screwing up my courage. Maybe I'll try it tonight!

And here I was using my trusty Swiss army knife....Oh well, they say it has a thousand uses.

How come my emoticons don't come out, is it because I am using Opera?

 I think sometimes that dog is too smart for his own good.

You know how coke heads would be dipicted with the long pinky fingernail, well I have well manucured index finger and thumb on my right hand....I love this method, takes a little patience, but works great!

Mac is right, it's also a great first way to look at the construction of a cigar too....

I smoke so many torps, I keep a cutter with me most of the time. I've never tried the finger nail/ pinch method on one of those before.

That's a good point, It's always nice to have a cigar cutter handy, You just never know...

OK, I finally tried "the pinch" on a Camacho Corojo Toro. I did like the Capt said, wetting the cap first. I pinched, rotated 90° and pinched again. It looked perfect and smoked great...I am sold! It looks like my Xikar will get some rest.
