My first real cigar!

Heres my story- over a year ago I started collecting cigars. They've been sitting in my humidor this whole time. When I first started,I would add water every week. After a couple of months,I got slack and would add water when I remembered, about every month. Over the past three to four weeks,I've now been doing this on a weekly basis again. Tonight,I decided what the hell, smoke one. I chose a Padron Anniversay series. Before I smoked it, I held it for a minute-it felt smooth and oily(I'm assuming thats a good sign). It smelt good. I fired it up,and it lit easily. It was very easy to draw from, and burned even the whole way. It had the same flavor all the way down. The taste was very woodsy kind of nutty. After the first two inches or so the ash fell off. The ash would hold for about two inches the whole way. I let it rest for about 30 seconds to one minute between each draw. It took about and hour and ten minutes to finish. Now the bad news-I felt fine smoking outside, but just now,I just got through praying to the porcilen god. I still feel queasy. What did I do wrong? Or am I just a wuss newbie? LOL

:barf: :barf: sounds like a lil strong maybe for your first one may want try something a lil milder

Careful not to inhale.
Maybe have a suger cube to suck on or smoke after eating.
It is a good idea to eat before smoking!

I agree with CC. EAT before smoking, especially if it's a full-bodied cigar.

I disagree with all the above posters , I think there is some thing wrong with all your cigars , you should send them all to me in the humidor & I will be glad to inspect them for you ! hahahahaha Enjoy, Vince & welome to the zoo !!!

Vince,

I really enjoy reading your posts because I am impressed how you reach out to the other forum members and offer your time and talents to double check all of their cigars. Your selflessness does not go unnoticed!

I got sick once, when I first started smoking cigars. I had smoked a cigar in the morning (no breakfast.) I'm pretty sure I turned green (didn't want to look in the mirror.)

I'd agree that it's a good idea to eat a large meal before smoking and drink water while you smoke (this also clears the palate.)

only time i got sick was off a diploma, i think i may have inhaled some, i had eaten a huge steak and a drank a few beers so i dont know what was up with that. i only smoked half an inch, maybe an inch and i had to go lay down. theyve got me a little gunshy lol.

I had my first cigar way back in 1955 , so I have a lot of good as welll as bad cigars , I make it a point never smoke a bad cigar, it is my pleasure to inspect & check any cigar for any problems with it , some times the cigar is ok but the humidor has gone sour, & I check that also, right now I have 2 humidors in my stack that I am "sweeting " up for friends , if your having any problems Please be sure to get ahold of me for my expertise hahahaha Enjoy, Vince

I did not know that. I thought if I ate a meal before hand, I would not be able to taste the true flavor of the cigar. I did drink a glass of water with it though to help clense my palate. The funny thing was,I was hungry while smoking-I was gonna order a pizza. When I got through, that was the LAST thing on my mind. I didn't even want to look at my humidor last night! What are some of the more milder cigars out there? P.S.-Laugh away people, you won't hurt my feelings-I told my co-workers what happened this morning, and we all got a good laugh. Our mistakes will help us learn our lessons. I learned mine last night-Padrons are evil! LOL!!

I think you had better get rid of that evil by distributing it as widely as possible. Send one to everybody that posted in this thread, and then pick another thread, and send one to each of those people.

That is the only way the spell will be broken, and those evil cigars will never bother you again!!

I agree, but save the postage & just send them all to me hahahaha Enjoy,Vince

Mmm...mmmmaaaa.....mmmaaaccc...damnit, it wont come out. lol

I experienced a lot of cigars that are fine the whole way through, then when you get finished, the body just keeps sneaking up, closer and closer til in grabs you by the gut.

Eating before will not ruin your tastes for the cigar, and as you have found out, it will enable you to stomach (no pun intended) a much more robust cigar. I have found that smoking a good cigar about 30 minutes or so after a good meal is great for me, no blending or masking of flavors, just pure smoking satisfaction!

Don't be turned off to the stick you smoked that made you ill, I happen to like many of the sticks Padron has to offer and would highly recommend them to you...On a full stomach!

Or you can send them to me for a complete inspection just to be safe hahahaha Enjoy, Vince
