if you didnt have enough time to smoke your cigar, but wanted it later, what the proper ways of putting it out and relighting it. Thanks, Nick

If I have to set it down and plan on comming back to it, I blow the smoke out of the cigar, and just let it put itself out. It wont burn very long without you drawing on it. When its time to come back to it, ill blow through it one more time, and then use my cutter to clip off the burned part, and fire up again.

brenda sent me this great lil item called a cigar bobkin. it works great just put cigar in the hole goes out within just a few seconds. seems to be in better shape to relight recomend it highly.

with any method out there, the cigar will still taste like crap if its out for too long.

Whatever you do, do not put it in a bag to save it for later. It will taste like cr@p. (I learned this the hard way with my first short story last weekend. What a way to go for a good cigar.  )

There is a product available called a cigar savor. I personally haven't tried it, so I'm not sure how good it is in preserving whatever is left.

I had one - the thing it was good for was walking down the road in NY
finding I needed to jump in a building (for a cup of coffee or what ever)
th savor would hold it in my coat pocket light while I did what I had to.
It didn't help keeping it for mucj longer.

Blow all smoke out, let go out.
I shave the ash off and relight.
I'll clip if my cutter is very sharp, but if not the wrapper can crack as the cigar dries out from being light - also depnds on how long it has been out.

I had to do the same thing this week. It finally got warm enough to smoke outside, and we had some snow overnight, so I figured I would kill two birds with one stone so to speak.

I dug out the shovel, and fired up a CAO Brazil Pirahanna. Nice smoke, I am not good at flavors, but I would say burnt coffee and oak, with a bit of peppermint(?) it there too.

It got too cold to finish, so I just blew out the smoke and let it sit in my ashtray in the smoke house overnight.

Today, I just scraped the ash off and light it up. Faaaaannntassstic! All the flavors were still there, and as I finished it off, it just got better and better.

Soooo did freezing it overnight help this process? I do not know, but I know it tasted the same both days, and it was goood!

Frequently mine will go out if I get held up doing something. But usually its for only a few minutes. I just scrape the ash off and relight. Some cigars it works well on others not so well, but more and more I'm thinking it actually enhances the flavor on some. Gives them a more cocoey flavor.

Phisherman mentioned a bag--well I can do ya one better. I once tried to save a Punch by wrapping it in SARAN wrap. Almost brings tears to my eyes to think about that experience.

yea, i remember that story. the guy said his roomate smoked a cigar an inch or so and stuck it back in the humidor. i cringe every time i think about that.
