Was celebrating last night and decided to have the Opus X I was saving.

I was sure not impressed at all with a cigar as highly touted as this and in all fairness it was good but not as good as many other cigars I have had a more then half the price.

Guess we all have different tastes when it comes to cigars but I am not afraid to admit that this wasn't worth the money.

They can be pricey...I love them at the right time.

msrp is always a good price...

I got started in cigars on a semi-serious basis this fall because of an Opus I had in a box from a xmas present from my daughter from probably 2 years ago. Lit it up as a protest to pending smoking ban where I live and it was still good and just struck me with such flavor .
Of course the next one might not seem so good and I cant pay some of the prices I see posted but my local store says they have some in the $10-15 range so I am going to see what they have and try another. Definitely not everyday smoke but worth a splurge now and then.

i used to buy up Opus X every Tuesday. Two a week. Four if I brought someone with. I think I have two Opus As left. I didn't smoke them nearly as fast as I would buy them. Then after having a nice collection of Opus I was talking to Carlito (at a BigSmoke in Chicago many years ago) and he told me they aren't meant to be aged. He turned out to be a really nice guy and my date (the ex-wife) had a nice conversation since they are both from Cuban families. He was nice enough to give me plenty of Opus and some that weren't even out in the shops yet along with one or two that he had rolled for himself and have never been in shops. I immediately went hime with the flavor of Carlito's Opus fresh in my mind. The first Opus I smoked wasn't nearly as good as my memory. I went to the shop on Tuesday and bought two more. Of a size that I already had. I then did taste tests for two days. The first day I smoked the fresh Opus and it rocked. Then I smoked the aged Opus, good, but not great like the fresh one. Second day I reversed the order and the fresh cigar still stood out.

That's it! All Opus must be irradicated from my humidor. I smoked them pretty much in the regular rotation from that point on. They are good cigars, but just not worth the price in my opinion. Now, that I'm thinking about it today might be a perfect day for one of those Opus As sitting in the humidor. I've got 2...whose coming over?

it's a nice shop, or at least it used to be i haven't been there in quite a while. there's no place to smoke in the shop. the trick would be finding a place near by where you could enjoy your cigar. i really like shops where you can sit and smoke a cigar.

Right now the only shopping I have been doing is on-line. My old local store is in the osuth suburbs and I don't get to go in anymore....

Now I just frequent the Steak Houses and Hotel Bars...There are still, for now, a lot of great places to smoke in the City of Chicago. It's kinda funny, the other day I had talked to Nick Perdomo, and he said he loves coming to Chicago, this is where he comes to Vacation...he said one of the reasons was because of how cigar friendly this city is, that it's one of the best places to smoke cigars! One of the last cigar smoking hubs in the Country.

only time will tell how the new law changes that. i am hopefull that there will be good places to hang out for a drink and a cigar. otherwise the places like Harry Caray's and Shoeless Joe's in Rosemont will get a lot more city traffic.

There are a lot of places, especially some restaurants, like Ditka's who revolve around the Cigar smoking lifestyle.....I still can't see that changing...hopefully, I won't have to.
