Looking for a brand

Hello

I am trying to locate a specific cigar brand. All I know is that the label is gold with a red border. The emblam is a sun with rays emitted from it, and the company was established in 1941. Is anyone able to ID this??

Cheers!

Hi

Thanks for the replies. I do not know if this is vintage or new. I am a photographer and quite frankly have no knowledge regarding cigars. I figured a forum would be a good way to find info. Regardless, it sounds like this may not be a "mainstream" brand.

Cheers!

How did you determine this? Do you have the cigar, the band or the packaging? Just wondering where the descriptions came from. There are too many cigar bands to count, but I love a mystery!

Well I know there are a lot of specifics. I am only going by what someone told me. They are describing a cigar that was given to them by my father. He died in 1981. The mystery continues.....

cheers!

Hi Thanks for the info.

I contacted the Company.....

Here is their reply:

I've never seen the brand you describe in your letter. Since we actually started around 1942/43, I doubt that National Cigar ever made the cigars with a gold band, red border, sun and 1941 printed on it. Sorry we cannot help you. There is probably some information out there somewhere that would identify these cigars. With kindest regards, we remain,

Very truly yours,
National Cigar Corporation
Kenneth J. Wolf, vice president

Cheers!

Cigar bands change on a regular basis. Almost every brand that NCC carries, existed before they did. NCC has bought many different brand names. They certainly still catalog the El Verso line. If you follow my links, you can see pictures of the bands and packaging. The red and gold from your description are inverted. This could have changed over the years or this detail could have been misremembered. I have no idea what the significance of the 1941 is.

"Since we actually started around 1942/43, I doubt that National Cigar ever made the cigars..." This statement is odd/misleading since many of NCC's brands predate NCC and the brands have undergone many changes before and after 1943.

I think the similarities of your descriptions and the El Verso line are extraordinary. Good luck with your search.
