I was going to get a business license for my shop, because I will be selling a little bit, but mostly to support my hobby as I am doing black smithing and welding for the fun of it. Well I have to come up with a name and I was thinking of The Lost Forge because I live on Lost Lake. What do you all think.

PS Yeah happy dance my Plasma cutter will be delivered today.

Sorry for the none cigar post.

I like it!
But, if it's lost, how will you get to work each day? (Bad...that was bad....I apologize.)

No worries BP I always have a lot of bad puns. Half of me wishes I was working there every day, but the other half is glad I don't. I have a full time job as a computer geek. The shop is my hobby that way I don't get in to jams where I am concerned about getting money in to pay the bills. I would not want my love of working with metal to be ruined by forcing myself to work on a job.

That might not be very clear, but I think you all get the jist.

aww man, i thought you were gonna say you were gonna start a cigar shop.

I know what you mean Red - it isn't any fun if there are deadlines...

What do you do as a computer geek?

I' am an IT manager for the international div of a truck company. It sounds better then it is because in my Div I am an IT of one.

That's cool - I'm a computer geek too - programmer for a small company in Pittsburgh

Sounds cool Red. Which Lost Lake are you at? I googled it and came up with quite a few, they all look Beautifull!!

There are several. I live in washington. The lake has actually had several names. Back in the early 1900 it was Ricci Lake  . Named for a family that owned property around here. They are still by here and are really nice. The creek is still named after them. Then at sometime it was named Devil's lake. All the USGS maps call it Devils lake. Not sure when it switch to Lost lake, but any new maps show it that way.

Probably more info then you wanted.

Cheers

Red I understand just what your talking about, the love of metal work & earning a living working with metal , I loved to cook , absolutly loved it, till I became a chef & Had to do it every day, sure there were a lot of great days & a few bad ones, but after I retired, I stayed out of the kitchen for a long time, now when I get back in the kitchen , it is like I am a little kid all over again, But now I have the skills & the dexterity to do things I wasnt able to do when I was 10.
To Bad you live so far away, I always wanted to try my hand at a Forge & anvil , I used to watch the Robinson brothers work a steam powered hammer turning big long Square steel blooms into round shafts , they would take a steel bar, & make it into a chain, each link forged one at a time , I have always wanted to learn how to make a Great knife , I use a set of Henkels Cooking knives now, but I want to make my own some day, just to say I did it.
Enjoy, Vince

yea, a knife or hatchet would be really somthing to have if you made it yourself, that would be really badass.
