hi all.
i was recommened here by my good friend nick. he's known as Mastershake on this forum. When it comes to cigar smoking, i dont really have too broad of an experience. A good buddy of mine mosly smokes RyJ. I found them quite tasty. Smooth, well rounded. I also work for my local Starbucks while attending a community college studying Art History until i can transfer to SIU. Im just a poor kid enjoying the simple pleasure of life at the moment. While most my kids enjoy drink and partying, I prefer quite nights, smoking a fine cigar with a couple good friends at a local brewery (Brass) Ive have currently indulgened in a small variety of cigars, and so far Cohiba has struck my intrest. But Im looking for something slightly bold, but not too harsh. Something that i can smoke for a good hour and its taste still holds a bold taste without clouding my palette.

First welcome to the forum and tell Shake its good to hear he's alive and kicking still. That said, I would definitely try out the Cusano C10 and the CAO Anniversary series lines. For a step up in boldness try the REO's sold under the Patel label. For more kick still try the Fuente Sun Growns.

But, one of your best bets might be the Cusano 18 paired maduro.

Welcome! Also, the Cameroon, Red, and Cuban Labels from here (Cigar.com) are very nice sticks that might meet your criteria.

I will second both recommendations from Quag and BP. The C10 and Cameroon label are great smokes.

heyyy getting drunk and passing out is still verrrrry fun but there are times when a cigar is better that that and vise versa one of the best tasting cigars i had was pre passing out...i dont know if it was even that good or not but i rember it was great for the poor verry difficult hobby/lifestyle

Welcome!!

Try everything.
You are doomed. Premium cigars will take over your life.

Welcome again. 8)

Welcome, Dostoyevskij! You can't go wrong following these guys' recommendations.

Welcome, welcome :wine:

I have a question for ya: How is Starbucks as an employer? How long have you worked there? Do you like it? Do you get free coffee? **if you don't want to post, please PM me. I really want to know.**

The seems like a good time to pitch my personal favorite brand- Flor de Oliva. They're not the best cigars around, but I've gotten through most of the line and haven't had one I didn't like. They're also cheap. $1.75-2.50/stick or so. I like them better than a lot of $5+ sticks I've had. I generally consider them to be my "everyday" smoke, though I've been so busy trying things (it's so hard not to try new stuff...) they're really more like my second smoke of the day smoke.
My personal favorite is the maduro, but I tend to like maduro anything. Smooth, flavorful, and usually a good even burn.

I'll second Zandor on that recomendation. Like he said, not the BEST smoke out there, but when you are on a budget, or want a good "everyday smoke" these are pretty good...I also lean towards the maduro. (of course, all the other recomendations are great too) WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!

Welcome man, i am a college student as well. I really enjoy the montecristo 'gars Double Coronas are great for a good poker sitdown.

The C10s really became a fav. of mine after hearing all the good things about them on this forum. Camancho Corojo Ltd, Diploma was a great 'gar and a fav on here which is just bursting with flavor and aroma.

Welcome Dostoyevskij, I don't know if they fit your budget or not, but the Indian Tabad Super Fuerte Maduro is a very nice strong smoke. I like the Corona, and have had the Toro's too - a good 45 minute to an hour smoke, and power all the way!

i am taking many of your suggestions very seriously. i should let you guys know that i am on a budget......but im also very bad about my money. and i read a couple questions about working for starbucks. ive been with the couple for a couple years know, and all i have to say is that it expands your palette for fine taste. ive got a birthday rollin around, and since ill be moving away soon my parents thought they'd go all out for me this year. i found a small humidor at our local smoke shop. i plan of picking it up and just having my parents fill it up for me before i go to school. i took the recommendation of getting a cusano C10 and id have to admit, it was wuite tastey. thanks for the recommendations guys, and im totally open for anything.

Just a few, low budget, long on flavor:

CAO Gold
Savinelli Nicaraguan Reserve
Cuban Heirloom by Nick Perdomo
La Flor Dominicana 2000 (No. 2 size)

Welcome aboard.

I too really like the Punch Rare Corojos. Picked up a 5-er of the Magnums just the other day.

Might also want to think about raiding the seconds rack at your local tobaccanist. I picked up a 10-pack of what my local shop calls "Cuban Rejects" (don't know if this is just local packaging, or what one of the big companies calls their seconds) in a Toro Maduro. They aren't the best, but I'd say they are about equal to the regular Punch cigars, and they were only $1.47ea. They also had some seconds from the Davidoff factory, etc.

In my (limited) experience it's better to go with one of the better seconds than go to a "cheap cigar" like you'll find in drug stores and gas stations.
