Humi too wet

I'm having a problem of my Humi keeping too high of a RH. It is a small/medium humi with about 40cigars in it, and the RH will climb to 73, even with the original credo which is very small. A couple of my cigars are taking bad effects, like the wrapper busting at the foot.

I now open it and leave it open for a minute once or twice a day, tonight I am going to leave it cracked just the slightest bit.

Any suggestions?

You're on the right track, but strange that someone in your neck of the woods should be having humidity that's too high right now. Are you sure your hygrometer reads correctly, and if so, keeping it cracked open and checking frequently should bring down your humidity to proper levels. Once it's there, you can remove the wedge and go back to normal operation.

I calibrated my digi hygrometer, so I know its right. I open it and watch the RH drop, but then a few hours later its back to high. Hopefully keeping it cracked for a while will help things out. thx

You're doing the only thing you can really do safely. Though I would suggest rotating the cigars each night you do this though as you say its a small humidor and you might really be only dropping the humidity in the top cigars.

I found that when my small humi was not quite full enough it gave me problems. Is the humi full, or just partially full?

Is this a new humi? if you have recently "seasoned" a new humi, is it possible that it was too wet to begin with...the cedar lining may be holding too much moisture still....just a thought.

Add cedar piecest to the box and remove them from time to time and replace them with fresh pieces. This will help obsorb excess moisture. You can also put in a clean and dry sponge to get the same effect.

Did you remove teh Credo?

Are you using PG in it - PG doesn't evaporate as fast as water, so if every time you refill the credo with a 50/50 solution the PG will keep building up and cause this kind of problem.
I'd suggest replacing it or soaking it in water over night
(swirl it around) & then let it dry out add a little water and replace it.

cigars will be fine on there own (no credo)
leaving them over night without the credo & then check them!

I did leave the credo out for a night or so earlier this week, and the RH was about 66-67 without it. I dont have PG, I forgot about that, ill try to get some. The humi is almost full. Thanks everybody

I would not use it!
It will make the RH rise - not drop.
Because the humi is full the cigars are holding RH,
sounds like things are right on.
I'd leave the credo out until it drops to 63% then put it in overnight and see what is what.

I had the same problem in my 20-50ct humi. I took the foam out of the credo and put beads in it. Problem solved. You can get a tube filled with beads for your humi for about 8 bucks at heartfelt.com. Put the beads in just about anything that fits in the humi. I can't imagine I'll ever use anything else. good luck.
