how long should i let these things age? the one that was gifted to me was awsome, but the box i bought are kindof harsh and way too young. im thinking ill let it sit 6 months then try them again.

i just bought one threeweeks ago, i am in the same boat as you and was curious about that as well. I will be anticipating a response as well.

are they the real thing or are they Dominican ? if they are the real thing, sit on them for a year or so( check them one a month after a year , IF you can stay out of them that long !) , if they are dominican , 2 or 3 years . Enjoy, Vince

yes, i am sure the source is legit. they came in pretty pink celophane and had beautiful bright white ash, no sign of dark ash anywhere. oh and the box had an awsome glass top with the words "not counterfeit" engraved in it. im sure they are legit.

What Vince said.
The one I smoked this weekend had almost 2 years under its belt and it was great. As a rule, I always let cigars from outside the US rest for at least a month or two before even thinking about smoking one...as difficult as that is

Man, you MUST have will power! I am anticipating buying some Monte 4's, and I know it is going to be VERY hard to just let them rest from travel, let alone wait for 6 months or so.

Such is life, I guess!

If you can REALLY hold out that long, I would wait a year. I have some Cohiba Siglo II and VI I have aged from 2004. I also have a Siglo from 1995. I am not quite sure how long I am going to wait to smoke that.

+It depends on when they were made. Check the date code on the bottom of the box.
The newer the date, the longer the wait.
That is one very good reason to buy boxes in person if you can. I try to get some that are at least a year old.
