Discussion of Rules about Cuban Cigars

what about advertising to gather participants in a group buy, nothing more than a statement of what will be bought, how many and to pm the thread starter if you are interested?

If I'm not mistaken, that's already going on. The problem with such a proposal is, if people start posting the winky emoticon, with all kinds of code words in quotes, it will become obvious that the rules are being flaunted. As long as that's not going on, then what one does not know or cannot prove, cannot be used against anyone.

I will say this however. If there is a law enforcement official on these forums, who decides that even though forum rules are being successfully skirted, that he/she doesn't like the fact that people are obviously screwing around, just beware if they decide to make an example of you. Records can be subpoenaed, and that includes IP addresses, PM records, e-mails, cell phone records etc.

My quiet suggestion to all of you is, if you recognize who the obvious Cuban cigar smokers on the board are, send them a PM. That's why the function exists, so that you all can discuss PRIVATE matters in a way that SHOULD be kept private. I think all such hair splitting of the rules, and attempts to talk me or other staff members in to accepting winks and nods, should be abandoned in favor of the PM function. Thank you.

Bloof, there is only one item in your post that I disagree with. I think this thread should be made a sticky. I agree that there are too many stickies already, but this is important information and people need to be made aware of it in no uncertain terms.

that's my 2 cents

Thanks for the feedback. I'll just keep bumping it to the top, because understandably, top brass is reluctant to see any more stickys here, and I have to agree.

I would make it a mandatory read for all new members and posters. Just my .02

Thanks Capt, and don't worry, I intend to keep bumping it. With flocks of new members, come new trolls. And old.

I am glad to see this post, Bloofington. I am new here, and though I have read these same things in other posts, you are right in that many people just comming to a forum do not go back and read all the older threads...I mean there is A LOT of info here for a newcomer. I think that the fact that this is forum policy should be enough by itself, but I think that what people need to understand is that while having possession of and smoking Cubans is against the law, AmBack is not liable for what you do on your own. (nor if you wish to incriminate yourself by talking about it) But where the issue gets sticky, is when you try to use AmBack's forum as a means to procure, or distribute said Cubans. :soap:
Enough said, thanks for making this clear for everyone. Hopfully this will stop some of the issues we have seen receintly.

Bloof, thanks for re-itterating the forum rules. It's so sad to see newcomers become los despirados after a short stay. Hopefully your thread will help clear some of the confusion up front.

For those who are not sure of what they can or cannot post, just PM a mod. They will definately help you avoid anything illegal and just may prevent you from being a los despirados.

Now then, what's wrong with Rachael Ray?! and her 30-minute meals?! C'mon! That's crossing a fine line! :x She's attractive, and cooks a good simple mean! Just wait till I tell the wife about those hate sites! ooooooOOOOOooo man!

Good thread Bloof, and thanks for always responding to the questions I ask, when I PM you.

If this wont be made into a stickey why dont you insert a link in one of the forum rules stickey regarding rules for posting about cubanos and still bump it to the top from time to time becuase up untill now i had no idea what the rules were on them

As long as I'm alive and reasonably well, I'll be keeping an eye on it, so that it always stays on Page 1. By the way, Spider66 is a perfect example of a forum member who TOTALLY "gets" it. I wish I could state matters as succinctly as he did, but if there's any question, his reply is exemplary of someone who "gets" it exactly as AmBack wishes.

Enough discussing about sticky/no sticky --- this is an important enough rule that it has been made into an announcement so that it will always be on the first page.

Bloofie as the main Cigar Moderator has laid down the rules and it is up to every participating member to heed these rules or suffer the consequences of their actions.

Bloof:

Thanks for the post - it's good to have something up front to refer to in case this becomes an issue again.

Good job, Bloofington!

I split this discussion off from the Rules announcement and have gotten rid of the stuff that had no business being on the site (porn links etc.....)

Lightheartedness is OK, but that stuff crosses far over the line. I am not going to send PM to all the offenders, just remember to keep that stuff off the boards!! If you have to share that type stuff -- do it via PM!!
